Hey,

I'm Iona.

I'm not diagnosed with anything- partly because I've never seen a doctor about this- but this is where I feel my experiences and emotions fit best? I struggle a lot with body image and I'm trying to lose weight but I suck at being healthy about it. It's kinda bulimia but I'm just not sure if I'm ready to admit that to myself yet, it's taken a lot to even type this admitting how bad I'm doing.

This is something I really struggle to talk about but I hope here I'll find people that understand how I feel and that might make it easier to cope with.

Hi, I'm Yana

and the topic about eating disorders was brought to my attention about 2 months ago. i had always been weight conscious since i was 8 and in third grade. i'm now in the eight grade and worrying about my physical image much more than i was. i'm not even sure if i have an eating disorder but deep down, i have never been comfortable with how i think my shoulders are too broad or how my waist is barely prominent. i took this topic to my core and really tried my best to understand why it felt so surreal...that i could find an explanation as to why i was like this. i broke into tears upon seeing the results of my wellness test because i hit a 47% on the depression category and more than 50% on the eating disorder category.

i never pegged myself as the type to map out everything i didn't quite like about myself but at 13, i'm struggling with some undiscovered thing that i would love to deal with eventually, hopefully with the support of the very caring 7Cups community :)

@yanahoo14 - Hi Yana, and welcome! I think you took a really big step by taking that wellness test and letting yourself take an honest look at how things are going. Knowing that you're struggling is an important start to being able to work through it all! I know this stuff isn't easy, especially when you've been feeling it for so long, but I also know that it's possible to work through it and get to a place where you are healthy and happy. And this community can help support you through it. If you ever need to talk/vent/work on solutions, you're welcome to reach out to me <3

Hi, I'm Chris.

I've been diagnosed with anorexia a year ago.

I've always struggled with my body image and been self conscious about my weight.

I started loosing weight last year with unhealthy dieting and fasting, starting at [edited by Anomalia to remove weight specifics/triggers] lbs and 2 months after [edited] lbs. Now I'm at [edited] lbs.

I decided to recover two months ago because my ED leaded me to go inpatient for two weeks straight (I weighed [edited] lbs and exercised hours per day).

But I relapsed like three weeks ago. So now I'm really struggling to get out of it:(

Hi there, my name is Red. I am most likely anorexic. I starve myself often, but also binge and puke, so I may also be bulimic. I learned today that I have high cholesterol, despite my excersize and constant starving. I'm afraid that I may only get worse, but I really do want to get better, so I'm joining this community. But, I'm also more than my ED, so if you wanna know more about me, look at my profile :) -Red

@theedgeofnowhere2

I experienced the same thing with high cholesterol when my bulimia was at its worst. Although I was severely under weight, the high fat and high cholesterol foods I binged on were causing the elevated cholesterol. The digestion process begins in the mouth. I've been struggling with this illness for 25 years and the medical consequences are just multiplying. I don't know if your seeking treatment but please do. Best wishes.

Hey, I'm Lex. Im 16 years old and I've been struggling with eating disorders and my relationship with food since I was 11. I currently weigh [edited by Anomalia to remove weight specifics / triggers] lbs which is the most I've weighed in my entire life and I go through periods of intense calorie restriction, fasting and eventually binging. I'm just looking for people to take to and support me and I hope to do the same with other people :)

@LexiiDarling - Hi Lex, and welcome! I am really glad you're here and I think that sharing support can be a really powerful thing. One of the hardest parts of eating disorder recovery is feeling like no one around you understands what you're going through, so a community like this can be really helpful. Please feel free to reach out if I can offer any support!

As a side note, I edited your post slightly because we try to avoid calorie and weight specifics in this forum to avoid triggering others. :)

Hi, my friends call me Mina so I guess go with that. :) Um... this is my first time reaching out for any sort of help so here goes. I have been living with disordered eating my entire life. As a kid I binge ate A LOT and I didn't think much about it. Once I got to middle school I realized how fixated everyone was on appearance and material things and I guess that's when I first noticed I didn't like the way I looked or really who I was. But I continued to binge. Now I'm 17 and I have totally flipped to the opposite end of the spectrum. I resrict and I binge and I purge, not purge in the traditional sense but I excersize frequently. It all started as a healthy way to lose weight, bc I am overweight, but then it escalated and I didn't realize it until months later. I don't really know how I got to this point or what's making me do it anymore. But I'm here to get better.

@ItsMina - Hi Mina! I'm really proud of you for reaching out here. It can be scary to feel caught in a cycle of an eating disorder, especially as it morphs from one thing to another or when it starts feeling in control and slips out of control. But this is a great place to find some support, share with others who are struggling with similar things, and get motivation on your recovery journey! I hope you find what you're looking for here, and if you ever need to chat, feel free to reach out!

Hi everyone. You guys can call me Mimi. I recently developed atypical anorexia, due to gaining more than a few pounds over this year. I'm a small girl, but I don't look anorexic. I look in the mirror every day and hate the way I look, despite my long term boyfriend telling me I'm beautiful every single day. Idk how to get out of this mindset, but it's nice to meet all of you <3

@HelpfulLily86 - I think you've already taken a really great first step by reaching out here! It can be hard to feel confidant in your body or to see it in an honest light. One thing that I think can be really helpful is to work on shifting your thoughts about your body to what it can do instead of what it looks like. For instance, my strong legs let me dance, my hips are great for balancing my friend's baby on, and my lungs are powerful enough to sing and perform. Those things are more important than it looking one specific way to me. What are things that your body can do when it is strong that you lose when it isn't?

Hey everyone, I'm Roze. I'm 25 and I've been in recovery for a little under a year. I've got atypical anorexia, purge type. Basically I restrict and purge, but do not binge. I was in a residential treatment centre for a month, partial for a month, and IOP for 2 months. Then I went back into IOP at a different program for 2 months. I'm coming here because I need some additional support.

@RozeTheCat - Hi Roze, I'm really glad you're here! It can be tough to go from intensive recovery to feeling like you don't have that same level of support around you, so hopefully 7 Cups can help fill some of that space. What times are hardest for you? What would be the most helpful support for you? If you ever want someone to talk to, feel free to message me! <3
