Hello! My name is Wilma, I'm 17 years old and I've been suffering from anorexia since I was thirteen. It all started with that I wasn't happy with my body so I started working out more and eatless. Since then it has gotten worse and I'm still dealing with it.

I'm an active listener here at 7 Cups so if you ever need to talk, feel free to message me! :)

I'm Kitten. I was convinced to come here by my friend/girlfriend because she realized I'm anorexic. I just realized I am, and so I'm a little surprised and scared. Um... not really sure what to put here. I'm kind of wary about recovery and not sure I can do it.

@purrkittenpurr - first of all, welcome to 7 Cups - it's a pretty great community, and we're thrilled to have you here. Secondly, I know that admitting to yourself that you have a problem and opening up about it here isn't easy, and I think it shows a lot of courage and strength to have done that. You have already made an enormous step towards recovery.

Recovery is scary and can be really overwhelming, and it's perfectly normal to be wary and unsure about it, but I also can tell you that it really is possible. If you have any specific questions, I or someone else would be happy to help you find the resources you're looking for. And there are lots of great listeners on this site who would be happy to talk with you about your fears, concerns, and whatever else about the recovery process. Take care, and please keep reaching out for any support that we can give you.

Hi! I'm an active listener on here who specializes in eating disorders.

A bit about myself and why I feel I am good at dealing with Eating Disorders. Well I am a former anorexic and bulimic - twice! I was very sick from the ages of 14 until 17, briefly 'recovered' for a while and then became sick again from 19 until, well, now. I am not fullt recovered but I am getting there!

I work along side other listeners here to try and help as many people as we can. I also run a blog, website and FB of my own all under the name 'Can you stomach it?' and it deals with eating disorders and associalted illnesses.

:)

Hello to all of you:) I'm Caro and I have issues about food. I'm not shurewhat kind of eating disorder I have, but it's definitely not normal. I restrict during the week and binge on the weekends. I also drink a lot of alcohol, which encourages my binge eating and leads to restricting again. I also throw up almost every weekend and on week days when I eat more than I intended to. Thanks for listening:)

@sunnyYard1008 - welcome to 7 cups - I'm really glad you're hear and that you shared a bit of your story. I know it can take a lot of courage to do that, and I applaud you for it. It's also incredibly common for eating disorders to not fully match any specific eating disorder. The DSM even has a catch-all category for eating disorders that don't fully fit the criteria for others, and it's what I had, as well. No matter what the diagnosis is or isn't, it sounds like it's a serious issue for you, and I think it's good that you're recognizing that and I hope that you will continue to reach out for support, whether here, from friends/family, or from a trained professional. Please let us know if there's something we can do to help support you. Stay strong - you can recover!

Hello, you can call me Marie. All my body image and self hatred goes back as far as I remember because I was abused as a child. I feel utterly worthless and that I don't deserve anything, and that's why falling back into disordered eating is so easy. I hate myself so much I don't care about what this can do to me. I don't want to get better, because I'm so fat. My weight and BMI still classify me as being overweight. I just joined a group that meets once a week, but I don't want to get better.

@HopeChaser27 - Hi Marie, I'm glad you reached out here. I have been there, and I understand that feeling of worthlessness and like you don't deserve anything. But the only thing you didn't deserve was the abuse in your childhood. You have value. You have worth. You deserve love and happiness and joy. And you deserve support to get through this.

Frankly, BMI is a dumb measurement that doesn't reflect health at all - it's calculated incorrectly for what it's trying to do, the numbers were arbitrarily changed in the '70s to classify more people as overweight overnight, and it doesn't take into account muscle, body type, etc. I know that doesn't change how you feel about your body, but it's important to recognize that BMI does not define you and does not even represent you effectively.

It's okay to not be ready to get better yet, and I know that it's hard to heal before you're ready, but please recognize that what you're doing is dangerous and can cause a lot of harm to your body. There is a whole community here who wants to support you, and I hope you'll reach out and take some of that support, whether or not you're ready to heal. Take care

I've had a binge eating disorder for the last 6 years of my life and today I binged until my body couldn't take it and I started throwing up and I don't want to live like this anymore it's gotten me overweight and makes my anxiety spike. If anyone has any advice please please please message me it would mean the world honestly I'm so scared Thanks xox

@abbuuu34 - welcome to 7 cups. I'm really glad you're reaching out. That's a really important first step. If you need someone to talk to right away, you can connect with a listener on this site and they can talk through what you're feeling and going through with you. It sounds like you may also need more support than just someone on the internet, but your listener can also help you find resources to reach out to near you. Take care, and let us know how we can support you.
