Hi im Mo Mo and im 17 i have ptsd which the reason why i think this all started for me with being depressed and anxiety and eating and me arent on the best of terms rightnow
@sleepyMoMo - Thanks for posting - I know it can be tough to open up about sometimes. Have you found any strategies that have make it easier to cope with and to help you be able to eat as you need to?
Hello! I am SINGER CRYSTAL SPIRIT (call me any of those!) and I am new to the Eating Disorders support forum! I have been BULIMIA FREE for 7.5 years!!!!!!!! I have struggled with other challenges with eating, such as binge eating, secretive eating, safe vs unsafe foods, going through phases up and down where I still feel like food is controlling my life. Starting TOMORROW I have a new plan in place to PUT MYSELF FIRST and practice self soothing skills instead - I have a list bookmarked - I am looking forward to coming here for support!!!!!
@singercrystalspirit - Congratulations on your successes so far in recovery and on making that choice to start practicing self-soothing skills! That's fantastic to hear, and I'm really happy for you! :) If you ever find yourself in need of some extra support, don't hesitate to reach out to me!
@Anomalia Thank you :)
Hey there. I go by Gipsy and I've been struggling with eating disorders since I was 12. I'm 18 now, currently struggling with OSFED. It began with anorexia, then onto bulimia and now it's a combination of the two. I wish it was gone already.
@GipsyS Hi Gipsy :) It is nice to meet you, and whenever you need a hug I've got plenty :)
@GipsyS - Hi lovely, I'm really glad you're here. I can definitely relate to that sense that it just won't go away after so many years, but it is possible - I struggled with my eating disorder for about 10 years, but can now happily say I'm in my third year of recovery. If you ever need someone to talk to about how you're feeling, you are always welcome to message me. Take care!
@GipsyS
Dear member, thank you for sharing, we are here for you :)
@GipsyS
Take care Gypsy
Hello everyone. I hope you're all able to get better soon, and I'm here to support you and help you the best way I can! Stay safe. You're all beautiful! :)
@SilverPatronus777 - You're so sweet! Thanks for sharing that! <3
Hi. Just call me Nikki, I'm already 20 years old. I'm from Philippines. I was bullied when I was still in gradeschool because I'm really fat. I started to skip meals when I was on high school. Then when I was in College I started to compare myself with with others. Since 2013 I'm doing the binge and purge cycle. I don't know how to stop. 😔 I'm also hurting myself when I can't handle the situation ..
@Anamianikki - Hi Nikki, I'm glad you posted here. I can definitely relate to that sense that once you're caught in the cycle, it's hard to stop, but I also know that it is possible. And that you've made a huge step by opening up here and deciding that you want to. If you want to talk more and see if some extra support can help, you're more than welcome to message me!
@Anamianikki *Hug* <3 You can do it. I believe in you. Think about a goal you want, and move toward it - find someone to help you, someone who is supportive of you no matter what choice you decide to make - and as Socrates says, "The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new." That quote is helping me tremendously lately, and maybe it can help you, too. The key is to find a goal you ACTUALLY want. I have spent a lot of time being caught up on impossible goals. I learned in goal-setting class that the only goal that is impossible is a vague goal, because there is no way to measure whether you have achieved it. For example, for a long time my goal was "to be beautiful". No matter how much weight I gained or lost, and no matter what fitness routine I stuck to, for years and years and years I never achieved my goal and I didn't understand why. Now that I am taking this class, I realize it is because "being beautiful" is VAGUE. It's subjective. There is no way to measure whether you have achieved it because you can always ask some new person for their OPINION on whether you have achieved it (and normally this person is yourself, and if you have low self-esteem the answer will likely be, "No!"). I am working on figuring out what my ACTUAL goal is, and I will post it when I do so that hopefully it helps you out. But I hope a little bit of my story will help you out!
@Anamianikki

Hi everyone. I'm zaisha.
So I'm currently struggling with weight loss stuff.....not clear about any eating disorder,but yeah...I am losing control now and then and start bingeing on junk food!!
I really hope to gt over it.im also glad I could write this up in this group and feel good about it!!!!
@zaisha - Hi lovely, I'm sorry I didn't respond before now. Welcome to this forum, I'm really glad you're here! Recovering from an eating disorder can be a long and frustrating process, but it's definitely possible, and having a community of support is so key. If you ever want to talk or need some extra support, don't hesitate to reach out! :)
@zaisha
This is a challenge most of us have to endure. food is a basic component of our survival. Would you consider it taking it one day at the time? This approach works for some of us. Nothing is written in stone and if we focus on balance we may be able to get away with less judging ourselves. Perhaps considering this also help us feel better when we choose different than what we consider appropriate at the time.
:)
I've always hated my body... I guess growing up in a society like this its hard to love yourself... but I started skipping when I was in 7th grade, now I'm in 10th.. I never eat breakfast and try not to eat diner when I can... I love it when I see myself looking thinner but then get mad at myself when I look gross... I've tried to not skip meals but it's hard to... help...
@proactivetiger4633
Hey lovely! It's nice to see you posted here. I agree that today's society has set a standard for beauty. I'm sorry to hear you've had to struggle with this for so long, but I'm proud of you for reaching out right now! Recovery is possible, even after a long time of suffering. I'm available if you would ever like to message me and talk about this more!<3
@proactivetiger4633
Take care proactive, experts can make a difference in the quality of our life when we are ready. I hope you find the support you need and are able to feel your best !:)
@proactivetiger4633
Your body is your vehicle. Perhaps if you focus on it in a different way you can feel sympathy for it. If you care for it it will help you if you don't you may lose control over it:)
Your body will take so much but at some point you can get sick and not able to decide what you want to do.
Take care. We are here, ;)
Hi, I'm 16 and I've been struggling with anorexia, bulimia and an exercise addiction for about 2.5 years now. I really struggle with my self esteem, self harm, and anxiety. I don't have many friends and I really struggle to talk about this to the ones I do have. I recovered for the first time about a year ago and since then it has been a never ending battle with relaspes. I am currently in a really rough patch and I have never felt worse about my body. I've really been struggling. If I ever get out of this I want to help other people like me, who feel like they have no one.
@greenPlum164. Hi sweetie, I'm sorry to hear of your struggle. I'm 46 and have been struggling with an eating disorder since I can first remember. I know I'm older but maybe we could work together. I'd be more than happy to be your friend
@Rebecca888888888889 I would love that, thank you so much
@greenPlum164 honey I'm not sure how to respond to hear I have a hard time seeing messages would it be inappropriate to give you my email? If not I get those on my cell phone I'm just not very good with this technology LOL [edited by ANomalia to remove email address]
@Rebecca888888888889 also, if it does make you feel more secure, when I was 26th I ran a support group for teens with eating disorders. I have no degree in this field but I do have life experience and understand it is a lifelong disease that we need to develop strength and coping skills for and part of that is having someone who understands
@Rebecca888888888889 - We actually have a rule against sharing any off-site contact information, so I've edited out your email address. Messaging here works, though! :)
@greenPlum164 if this makes you uncomfortable no worries I'll just try to keep this page open and figure it out :-)
@greenPlum164
Hello, I believe that sharing our story is the beginning of the posibility of wonderful change in our life. I hope you find what you need, experts advice is a wonderful resource we should take advantage of. Take care and let me know if you would like to chat with someone, I am here :)
@greenPlum164
You have gone through much and your experience may help others . You can impact others. Perhaps regaining control may use some expert help? Would you consider this?;)
@lovingLynx89 yes I think I will consider that. I have thought about it in the past but I can never seem to muster up enough courage to talk about it to someone. But I think I'm going to try harder and hopefully get help. Thank you so much for your kind words
@greenPlum164
So proud of you. I thank you for your kind words. Life is meant to be enjoyed you are a brave person already. I am sure you can do this! :)
Hello, I'm Rebecca and I've been struggling with binge-eating disorder for as long as I can remember. I am 46 years old and more than not these issues come up for a way for me to hate myself. As much as I hate it it is home for meaning I know no other way and it is my first instinct. If anyone is in the same boat I would love to have someone to talk to hopefully before the binges take place I'd like to be there for someone as well
@Rebecca888888888889 - Hi lovely, I'm glad you're here and reaching out! I struggled with my own eating disorder for about 10 years before the past few in recovery, and if it would be helpful to chat, you are more than welcome to message me. I think you're very self-aware to recognize that this is a symptom of the hatred you're feeling for yourself, and I'm hopeful that with time, you can develop a stronger sense of self-love to combat that and help you to heal.
@Rebecca888888888889
Rebecca, we all go through challenges, I am here if you need to talk, :)
@Rebecca888888888889
Hey Rebecca, I too binge every time I feel low about my self or I'm bored at home alone. I'm slowly losing the habit but had a relapse today when I was tired and hungry:( Just need someone to talk to just before or mid binge
Hello I am David, I am 53 and I am a coe. I struggle with being overweight and know that I am the only one that can change my weight. I am currently about 65 lbs overweight and I huff and puff to accomplish what anyone of average weight can do breathing normally. I have gotten such a large belly it is hard to even tie my own shoes or bend over to pick something up off the floor. I tried to go see a nutritionist but unless I am diabetic my insurance will not cover it. It is scary wheezing when I try to walk fast when I need to. I am scared for my life and am struggling with the change that must occur to get down to a healthier weight. I am very embarrassed with what I have become. I struggle with self esteem and depression and find it hard to hang onto hope some days. I was homeless a year ago and have come a long way since last year, but I have also grown so big I fear for my health. I have tried to attend overeaters anonymous but my work schedule will not allow me to. I have been clean and sober for over 18 months and I need to give myself credit for that, but eating from loneliness and for comfort really are hard to break.I need help....
@bgdave Hi Dave, I just want to let you know I struggle with that too, eating for loneliness and comfort. It's hard to break when we know that using food for comfort isn't inherently bad, but it's the fact that we struggle with having an amount that hurts us instead of helps us (I guess) that makes it difficult. I want to tell you congratulations for overcoming homelessness. That is something that has been on my radar a bit as well, and I think that a negative living situation and/or a lack of living situation is a huge thing to overcome. I don't know about for you, but for me, I have been wondering if having a safe and secure place to live (which includes privacy) is extremely important to me. I have been staying with a friend for the past 10 days because my home right now isn't safe, and my eating disorder has been acting up. Best wishes.
@singercrystalspirit
Thank you for your post and I am sorry to hear of your struggle. I am happy there are others and I am not alone. I will keep working on changing my diet and incorporating more physical activity. I need to learn coping skills.
@bgdave
Hi Dave, I read a tremendous desire to change your life in your posting. This means obstacles are just a temporary barrier in your way. Have you considered Internet as a way of research and a possible resource for finding and learning coping skills?:) this resource helped me to change my life. Perhaps it can help you?hope this helps.
