@Letsbefriends222 - Hi lovely, I know that feeling and it can be a hard urge to resist, but one thing that was always helpful for me was to play a bit of a waiting game and tell myself that whatever I did, I had to wait 20 minutes before I could and use that 20 minutes to focus on something else - either a distraction or something recovery oriented. A lot of times by the end of the 20 minutes, the urge had faded enough that I could manage it.

Hi everyone,

My name is Kaela (pronounced "Kayla"). I'm 24, and have been struggling with bulimia since I was 14. I don't really know what else to say. But I wanted to introduce myself.

I'm on the fence about what I accept being a problem within myself, but as far as it seems I belong here. My situation is a little complicated. I've lived in poverty so I've gotten used to not eating, and I believe I'm suffering from some illness that is keeping me skinny, as well. Recently someone trailed their finger down my spine to my lower back and told me I look ill, but I smiled about it. I'm not concerned, which is why I don't know if I should be here but I keep getting told I need help. Perhaps not being concerned about it is the problem. Most people would be concerned about being severely underweight, but everytime I look in the mirror I really don't think I'm that skinny. I sort of know I am, but there's always a doubt in my mind. Theres too much here, too much there. I could be skinnier, I have been. I won't put a lable on it, and I haven't told anyone. I refuse to. But here I am, wondering if this is where I should be since counseling isn't necessarily an option. We'll find out.

@Coratox - I understand not feeling like it's a problem, even when others tell you it is, and I think it's good that you're starting to reach out. Talking about it more can help you better understand what you need, and there's never any harm in reaching out for support. If you ever want to talk, you are more than welcome to message me. Take care and be well

Hello all, I'm 37 and I've been battling since I was 12yrs old. I'm a complex one. I range from binging to damn near starving. One minute I'll obsessively workout and the next min I'll lack motivation to avoid gaining muscle mass. Not sure what else to say...

@sunnyTurtle8402 - Welcome - I'm glad you're reaching out! It's actually pretty common for eating disorders to morph over time from restricting to purging to binging and back again, and it's all rooted in the same general issues. Getting support for any piece of it can be helpful for all of it!

My name is Kaela (pronounced "Kayla"). I'm 24 years old and I struggle with bulimia. It started as anorexic tendencies, when I was fourteen, but over time, it morphed into bulimia and has progressively gotten worse as I've gotten old. I recently decided that I wanted to recover, for good, as I have begin to lose teeth and ruined what was once a beautiful smile. I want to save what I have left and save the rest of my body from further damage. It's just not worth it. I'm hopeful that this time will be different, seeing as I have tried to recover in the past and failed. But I like to think that I just wasn't ready then, and I'm ready now, and it will be better. We'll just have to work hard, try hard, and see where it goes from here.

Nice to meet you all.

Hey everybody,

I've been struggling with an eating disorder for 2 years now, I've known some relapses recently, in fact it all goes within cycles, but I'm trying to recover.

I don't know what other things I can say right now, that's confusing 😊

PS: I love you all beauties 💕

Hi. I am Jamie from Maryland and I am a binge eater. I have struggled with this starting when I was kid. My dad thought food would be a good way for us to cope with my mom's illness. It has been a struggle and now I am dealing with physical tolls on my body from it. I am trying so hard to overcome this but it has been a challange. I have a hard time talking to doctors and therapists in person. I suffer from anxiety and depression as well as most recently being diagnosed with bi-polar 1. But I think I am still misdiagnosed because I don't know how to talk to them. Don't want to be judged and I get so anxious seeing my pshychitrist. I am trying to work on self help now. Meditating and joining the 7 cups community so that I may overcome these challanges on my own and with your help.

@orangenest - Hi Jamie, I'm really glad you're here and reaching out! I know it can be really hard to get across what you want to say to a psychologist, especially in person, but sometimes practicing with someone more distant like on here can get you ready for it. If you ever want to talk, you're more than welcome to reach out to me! Take care

@orangenest

Hi Jamie, I'm Megan :)

everything will be okay 💙

Talking about your feelings is never easy! But these people are not here to hurt, judge or mislead you! Try to stay as relaxed as you can when you are with them.

I find that if i feel my anxieties coming on, I count to ten and take deep breaths, then continue! And if you think this might help, tell them this! They will be 100% supportive!

You can do this! I understand how awful binge eating is, how it takes control, but you are stronger than it.

Believe that, please, because It is the truth. We are stronger than our EDs!

Hello!!!I have the same problem...the more correct technical term for mine is stress eating..I'm so addicted to comfort foods and guess what I have a high cholesterol level which is very unacceptable at my age..I do have depression and anxiety which hinders me from enjoying the blessings in my life..this is a vicious cycle between depression and stress eating..well the only solution is to break the cycle which is much easier said than done..nevertheless we need to try right..we are not quitters..nowadays I'm trying to find an alternative as my stress curber..I'm trying to focus more on reading...it's a long journey ahead..but we need to start somewhere right..and I don't think you have bipolar disorder..they might have misdiagnosed you...and here's a quote to motivate you...'junk food you've craved for an hour or the body you've craved for a lifetime???your decision'..have a good day friend
