@Laura Hi Laura, Not sure I'm doing this right. I am fatter than I've ever been and feel quite desperate. I have a therapist but he doesn't seem to have a clue about what a serious problem this isi -- outgrown all my clothes. I have a regular listener on 7 cups and she is great. She recommended the subject-specific groups. The weight problem throws my ability to cope out the window. Well, enough for now. I would like to hear from anyone else who has serious weight/body image/how these affect functioning. I can't guarantee I'll be able to find my way back here. I find the website somewhat confusing. But I will try as I am truly distressed and looking for support. I am short of funds and am unable to join a fee-based group where I am. Thanks a lot! :)

Hi,

I'm new here. I seem to have a fairy weird eating disorder - I never binged or really starved myself. I used to eat very healthy food, or food I thought was healthy, anyway. I weighed everything and put it down, so I exactly knew what I ate. I tried to fit all the food I ate in macronutrients I calculated. Also, I worked out a lot. I wanted - and want - a well-formed and muscular body.

Been in recovery for half a year now. Found a great therapist and have been discovering some stuff in my youth that led to this all.

I hope to find someone who has a 'weird' eating disorder, like me, because people always look at me funny when I say I have an eating disorder. Normally, they would think I looked really good and just wish they had my discipline...

(NOTE: I do not want to say in any way that boulimia or anorexia is 'just' a 'normal' eating disorder. I have dealt for a year or so with anorexia before I fell into the healthy pattern, so I know it's not funny. I would just like to meet someone who has something similar to me, so I don't feel so weird and lonely in this stupid ed, of whom very few people believes it's real)

Anyway, hi! :D Hope to feel at home soon.

Hi. :) I am new here too but I wanted to say hi and I hope you find this site supportive and helpful. I have so far. I understand how it feels for people to not believe you; you would never know I had an ED by looking at me. Mine doesn't fit any of the main categories either, it is more like I alternate between different disorders. I am just starting therapy so maybe I will understand some of it soon.

It is nice to meet you. :)

Nice to meet you, too! It's nice to read that!

I went to a yoga studio for people with eating disorders some time ago, they were new in town and wanted to see if there was any interessent in it. So I went and there was another girl. She asked if I was in therapy and when I said I had just discovered I have an eating disorder, she looked me up and down and again up and down and didn't say anything anymore.
She probably had anorexia, but hey, just because I'm not stick-thin doesn't mean I'm not sick...
I cried the whole session without anyone noticing and just went home. Never did go back. The lesson was total crap, anyway. But that was my first encounter with someone with an ed and it hurt like hell.
So, thank you so much for your responce.

Hi, I'm new here. I have trouble with overeating/binge eating. I had lost some weight, it is creeping back up. I am hoping to find some on-line support here. I also have anxiety issues which contribute to the problem. Well, looking forward to interacting with everyone. hope everybody is having a good night.

I'm off to bed.
