Realization
Let me start by saying that my family has a long history of assorted mental illnesses, Great Grandma had Schizophrenia, mom has bipolar, everyone has some form of something. It’s a lot to think about and carry around.
l’ve been suffering with depression and anxiety for years. A lot of times in denial or complete ignorance that I have it since it’s basically normalcy to me. I have gotten to the point now, being a mom of 2 and married for almost 10 years, that I need to do something. I’m struggling daily and hurting constantly but I am embarrassed and afraid to talk about it with my husband. He is not supportive and thinks medication is a horrible choice.
All I know is that I don’t want to feel this way anymore and I need support from somewhere.
@chilicheesefries You have been very strong coping on your own for many years. It must be hard not being able to bring the topic up easily to your husband. Would it help to send him some articles about the good effects of medication, or how to support a loved one with mental disorders? Do you think you can talk about this topic with close friends or family members who have struggled with them too?
