open to advice
I'm a single dad of two girls aged 21 and 23. I've been the primary parent since they were 5 and 7. Their mother is in the picture (they all work at the same place) but its not a typical mother/daughter relationship.
More background on the girls.
21 year old - some anxiety (especially taking tests), kinda bossy, works part time
23 year old - diagnosed with executive functioning disorder, getting therapy, works part time
Neither passed their written tests for driving. Each must have taken it 6 times or more.
Anyway, my problem is that the girls never go out. They text their friends but rarely see them in person. When I date (rarely), it always seems to be an issue that either they never go out or that I'm with them more that the girl I'm dating.
Its just hard for me to just leave them home while I go out all day (weekend?).
I know I'm overthinking this but they have no inclination to go out and do things with their friends.
Hi~!
It seems like you have a difficult situation, but I am just wondering~ with them being 21 and 23 years old, why can they not simply take care of themselves at home while you are gone for the day? What do you think will happen if you do so and have you tried it before?
I do ocassionally (4 or 5 times a year) go out with a friend of mine for the bar crawling (uber-ing around) and things have been fine with them at home. They used to order out for dinner but the last time the younger one cooked.
But when I date, it would (should?) be every weekend. And they would be home all day on their phones in their rooms. Only leaving their rooms to go to the bathroom or eat.
I should also mention that I am kinda without family. Parents are deceased. No close contact with any living relative.
