In not ok...

How do you continue to be a caretaker when you are not ok yourself? When your own physical health is broken down, and your mental health is taking a beating? How do you keep going, keep your spirits up and keep the person you are caretaker for from spiraling as well... I'm struggling lately to keep going...

(no I'm not a danger to myself or anyone else. I'm just tired, and scared bc we are still trying to find out what is wrong with my spouse and I'm recovering from a serious illness, and was in the middle of it when my spouse started having their issues.)

Thanks for listening.

@AmusingPond oh I'm so sorry you're feeling burnt out... it's natural for this to happen in situations like these... taking care of others when you're struggling to take care of yourself is a burden ... but sometimes healing and recovery lie in the same places we might want to run away from... I'm saying this from my own experience...what I mean is try to develop an understanding with your spouse... take the help of some mediator or counselor who can support your partnership..... by investing in such interactions love is nurtured inside hearts... and that brings in healing and power to do more... please connect with others and try to inculcate more love in your life....

If you have a specific issue you can share here the exact situation/conflict and I'll give tips to the best of my understanding.

Please don't be shy to ask for help. We are all in this together to look after each other's well being. You are not alone.

Oh love isn't the issue at all. We love each other greatly. I would never run away either. Just feeling overwhelmed, I guess. We both came into the marriage knowing that sickness was real, and good health was relatively a wish. My illness was well controlled until insurance decided to be a jerk and withhold my preferred treatment, so after taking 7 years to hit remission in my illness, I ended up back having a rough flare and changing medication. My spouse was still doing OK, and then they started having issues that caused them to go on short term disability and I lost my job due to grants being cut. It's just been a lot to hit us at once, and when I'm the only one able to handle pretty much everything when we have always conquered life as a team, it's been rough. And I don't want to make them feel bad that they are in this situation, bc it's totally out of their control.

@AmusingPond oh I'm sorry i misinterpreted the situation. I'm glad your relationship is healthy ... without good health things can feel so much tough. I pray for good health for you and your spouse.. I believe with illness there is a huge test of patience and grace and keeping hope.... I landed a couple of illnesses myself and I thought my life had hit rock bottom and it felt like all was over but with little self care and persistent efforts my health has improved ... life can surprise you.. keep trying your best and I'm sure the hard days are only temporary....

That's ok! I think the hardest thing is but knowing what is causing their issues. I mean we think we know, but doctors don't seem to agree. And if course insurance is tying our hands left and right. I'm just discouraged that we don't have answers and scared we might not find them
