Anyone have a parent diagnosed with early onset alzheimers?
It's been a year since my mom was diagnosed. I find my self feeling alone in the world who is dealing with this. For the first time in my life I'm afraid of the future. Anyone else current going through this?
@niceGlobe627- I don't have a parent, but know of an acquaintance with early onset dementia- she is in her 50's. Her mother moved in to be of assistance. Because of covid I have lost track how she is doing. She remembered more than some people gave her credit. I adopted her horse- and then had the pleasure of still working with her and my horses. The key seemed to be having meaningful interests in her life. I wish you the best.

I went through this from 2014 until my mom passed in 2018. It is a very difficult road to travel. I had to move my mom out of her home where she lived ffor 50 years and bring her to my state where I could better watch over her. At that time I joined alz.org. I learned so many things from people who had already been through the same circumstances. There were also lots of "tricks" to make them comfotable and not lose your mind. Teepa Snow videos on youtube were a great resouce.
My mom lived in a pretty AL, a higher care AL and then a comfortable MC. This was all in 3 years... ugg. I think once you understand the stages of dementia/alz you can cope with it better. It was hard on me emotionally as I was the only child, but I think I came out better on the other side. I learned patience and developed a very strong relationship with my mom during those times.
