Are my feelings valid?
So I have a friend who I talk to regularly via social media. We both live far apart so texting is all we got. We've gotten pretty close and recently I noticed their text replies are short and no room for me to continue the conversation. When I engage I typically leave it open ended, but yet again the conversation gets a short reply. Now when I'm on social media I see them posting stories and my messages still unread. I know I sound needy but what do i do in this situation. I guess it sucks not being able to talk to someone you have fun conversations with anymore. Now if we do hang out I'm not even sure how to act, I feel like we had a falling out and now I just want to ignore them completely. I'm not even sure what happened and it's not like we argued about anything.

normal friendships go up and down and even go away. people and their interests change. it's the fact of life. it sucks to be on the receiving end of it. what i do is, i try not taking is personally as a rejection, and sure enough sometimes it's their busy work and life schedule, etc.
another thing is balance, you give as much as you receive, if you give more, eventually resentfulness builds up, and i can sense it already. if your friend is not fulfilling your needs, you need to look for some other ones. IMHO and YMMV...
i would agree with lost turtle that the ups and downs of friendship happens in real life as well as through tech.
maybe you have explored most of what you can from a distance or maybe they cool a friendship because they want more IRL and distance doe snot let that happen.
Thank you LostTurtle22 and ToughTiger648
So this friend of mine was in town and I actually got to hang out with said friend with our group of friends. I made the most of the group outing and made it as fun as possible to show my friend what they were missing out on. But even after that things haven't changed. At this point I realize now that it's a one sided friendship and that I don't think I have the patiences to be there for them anymore. Letting go of a friend is tough, but after seeing how my friend treated other friends, I realized that I wasn't anything to them. So I'll cut my losses, keep it cordial and move on with my life.
