Hello all. I'm 44 and I have yet to have a real friend. I've had to walk away from many over the years. No one has ever had me like I've had them. Feeling discouraged and alone out here.

Hi! I’m 45 and feel the same. I spent years masking as people pleaser, just go w the flow of others to be included. But now crave friends with a real connection. We (my husband and I) had been very close w another couple. But the wife is toxic and abusive. I’ve started setting boundaries and realized she was never actually my friend and I have no intention of pursuing a more solid friendship w her. There’s a couple others my husband is more friends w than me. For lack of better way to put it- they have different political views and morals that I can’t see past. I don’t feel comfortable relaxing to be me around them either. We do have some good people but they don’t live in the same state as us so we rarely if ever get time together. The only “friend” I have that I truely enjoy being w lives an hr away. I generally do everything alone or just w my husband. I go to yoga twice a week and although the group is very welcoming and I’m invited to their get togethers, I still just feel like I don’t quite fit in. (((Hugs))) it’s so hard making friends as a middle aged adult. I feel like everyone already has their bff established by now 🫤. Sorry for my ramble. Just know I understand.
