Art to Make/Maintain Friendships and Relationships

I'm an art teacher and as I was making lesson plans for next year, I realized that art projects could make for good bonding activities for people who struggle with socializing (like me!)

1. exquisite corpse drawing game.

2. switch paintings every 5 minutes.

3. carve pumpkins/turnips even if it's not halloween.

4. decide which horseman of the apocalpyse the other would be and then make bracelets for each other. or you could just make bracelets for each other (guys can do this too!)

5. blind contour drawings of each other.

6. go flower hunting together to make pressed flower bookmarks.

7. get polaroid film cameras and go wild.

8. do a paint and sip night out. 

9. paint pottery out.

10. help each other come up with disguises and then go to a new place dressed in those disguises.

11. paint canvases with big swaths of color, grab some crumpled plastic bags, and then stick the crumpled plastic on each other's wet canvases. pull off when dry for some really cool designs.

12. come up with some weird lost/advertizing posters to stick around your town.

13. dress like an artists (whatever that means to you) and then meet up to sketch at a cafe.

14. make weather-proof tree ornaments together.

15. if either of you have long hair, braid each other's hair.

16. come up with a secret alphabet, get some weather-proof black and white paints, and go hunting for smooth stones. Paint the stones black and then write things in your secret alphabet in white. Go on a walk together and leave the mysterious stones for others to find.

17. do each other's nails and makeup (guys can participate too).

18. get white thrift store shoes and paint/use markers to design shoes for each other.

19. get some tattoo pens and draw on each other.

20. visit a museum or gallery with sketchbooks and draw together.
