Is it normal to regret cutting someone off, even if you know it's likely the best option?
I caught limerence for a friend (it's like a person addiction, usually in people with low self esteem and neglectful upbringings iirc, which I both have) it was messy, and I made a lotta mistakes and ended up hurting them
They asked for space in October of last year, and haven't responded since then. I sent a lotta panicked messages, acting on the anxiety it all caused me, when I should've been working on myself. I have 17 years of untreated ADHD, so the emotional dysregulation and impulsiveness are going to be there, still, I know I should've done better
Recently, I decided to send them a message, even if they don't respond, that I was blocking or ignoring them because I felt it was the best decision. Explained what limerence was, and even gave them my number if they wanted to contact me again
In the back of my mind, I do feel this is best decision. Even if I waited for a response from them, I've been incredibly anxious for months now because of this limerence, and I didn't wanna deal with it anymore. Prioritize my own needs so the situation didn't hold me back any more
I just wanna know if it's okay to feel a little bit of regret, even if those feelings may just be the limerence. Am I allowed to mourn a friendship that I feel like I messed up? I know these are feelings I can't exactly control, but I still blame myself for it all
