Sticky situation
Hi everyone! I could really use some support. Recently I had an issue with a friend and I was super proud of myself for starting to communicate how I felt. But I am struggling with really communicating how her actions effected me.
For context: she invited me to a concert and bailed at the last minute and is not seeing anything wrong with that.
She didn’t respond very well when I started to communicate how I felt about the situation, and she was defensive of her actions. I don’t want to invalidate whatever she could’ve been going through. But she seems more concerned about me not being mad at her when I just genuinely felt hurt.
I stepped back a bit just to collect my thoughts because I was feeling overwhelmed, and to avoid a fight because things did feel a little heated and I needed some space. A couple of weeks have passed and she has been reaching out to make plans in a group chat with a few others. I want to join in on the fun but I just cannot shake how hurt and left behind I felt/still feel. I don’t want to just end the friendship and I can tell she doesn’t either but I can’t just act like nothing happened.

If you do not want to end friendship but are still upset about being ditched at last moment.. Tell her....
how can we say we have friends if we can not communicate with them or avoid anything that may be an uncomfortable situation......
the act like nothing is wrong keep small things to ourselves is simple niceties we do for people we come across interacting with the world ....but REAL friends can take a discussion or constructive criticism and honest dialogue. If you must walk on eggshells and never speak up that IMO is not a friendship but a mere acquaintance.
