it happens with everyone i’m friends with. i start saying things that hurt their feelings and make them upset. i obviously don’t want to hurt them. but it always seems to be this way. my current friend is getting upset at everything i say. it seems i get more negative reactions from him then good. he points out when i say something nice and it seems few and far between. he keeps asking me to apologize and say sorry for what i’ve said but i just get so upset. it’s hard to explain why i can’t. it’s beginning to seem like i’m just a terrible person. i say mean things and then don’t even apologize for them. i’ve always struggled with making friends so he’s my only friend i have at the moment. we’ve known each other for nearly two and a half years now and he said that i was nicer before. do you know how much that hurts? maybe it would be better if just weren’t friends but he keeps wanting to remain friends with me. i don’t understand why he keeps wanting to since i obviously am just mean to him all the time. i don’t know. i’m so confused and i don’t know what to do. he wants to talk to me but what am i supposed to say? of course i’m sorry for all the stupid things i say. i’m sorry for never apologizing. i’m sorry for being a bad person. we’d had so many similar conversations about this before. i feel like maybe this is just who i am. maybe i’m just rude and mean and everything i say is upsetting. i don’t understand what i’m doing wrong. why can’t i just be nice

Learning  to apologize seems to be the easiest solution. Many apologies are given even if we feel we did nothing wrong.   It does not make you a bad person.

What is going through your head when you say something...do you stop and think " how is this going to be received?"     I think many never plan  to be mean but say something that just comes off not as we meant it.    I think some people are more direct and honest is that mean?

Example:  if a person would tell a friend an outfit was NOT flattering but everyone else had given false compliments but did not believe them ... Who is mean the person?

More people may believe the person who told them the outfit was not good is mean .... I think others who let us wear unflattering outfits are being mean for not being upfront and truthful.
