How would you politely end a conversation with someone really annoying??

Funny story for you.....

So, one place that I worked, it was far less than corporate. I was hired by the owner and it was to bring certain skills sets, a certain demeanor, a corporate mindset to it all as "corporate" is how I was "raised" in the work force. Gotta' bring a bit more legitimacy to this place. 

I knew the guy personally so sure, he knew what I was all about too and that yes, I am kind of funny, easy to get along with, highly agreeable and highly conscientious so it made work life easier in the transition for him while me being a bit heavily starched and buttoned up when needed. 

Well, he had this friend of his that he would do business with. *sighs* Once I started working there he had a tendency to stop by and often. I'm trying to work, he's trying to "lean in" to chat me up. It's a client so, do what you must. Even one day, the owner asked me to follow him over to the guys house to drop of some paperwork, some equipment after we shut the office down for the night. My role was to hand him the paperwork and give him a run down of what we had done for him, answer questions, button it all up as it needed to be turn key. 

Behold!!!! 😳 The client/friend had an entire party going on. Not interested in hearing anything related to business, wanting to give me a tour of his home, engage with him and his enterage on a personal level. Even my boss, the owner was like, oh, stay....have a few drinks, lets play billiards in the pool room while the friend was totally fixated on me. 

Eventually I found my way out and went home only to see him show up a couple of weeks later at a place that my girlfriends wanted to go to for a night out. How does this happen? Me thinks the owner told him, well, she goes to that place from time to time? This place would have been well out of his way and likely a place that he had never heard of. After being hit on all night while just wanting to have a nice time with friends, he's in my face.....and it just came out "oh you gotta' be kidding me, I just cannot do this right now" and walked away. It really was a moment of frustration from being bothered all night and then this guy. I'm not on the time clock, I don't have to chat you up, please stop hitting on me thoughts. 

So there is my answer the above. Not a fun moment, at all! 

Of all the nerve. He called the owner, Monday morning to complain about how "rude I had been to him". I heard all about it after the phone call ended. I just had to tell the owner, I'm not here to entertain your friends. My time is my time. I'd appreciate it if he left me alone. Worked like a charm. Never had that guy in my face again. 

Drastic times, call for drastic measures once in awhile.

Your post made me smile as I am of Irish lineage. 🍀 I hear you and completely! While I understand that it's not a very polite thing to do, there can be moments where it's simply the best option. Rare for me to do it however *raises hand*; It has happened for reasons of self preservation. 

While I may be thinking in my head "Hey, do you like magic tricks? 💫 Now you see me, now you.........." and *poof* at least I don't say it out loud and just move along.
