We can see stars even though they are millions of light years away because space is just an (almost) empty void so the light just travels through unobstructed. But by the time the light reaches us, it would've been a million years already (assuming it is 1 million light years away) so that's what the star looked like a million years ago.
From the perspective of someone on a planet that is 70 million light years away from Earth, they would see dinosaurs

- Physical aggression is a part of being human, just as much as love, empathy & all the other nice features.
- The above is especially true of young men...one reason why militaries are primarily (or exclusively) male institutions. There are always young men who like to fight.
- Scarcity of resources...that is, not enough to satisfy the needs &/or wants of all parties involved. Nation A controls a river; Nation B is right next to it & yet has no access; Nation A either won't share or will only if Nation B pays. Nation B declares war, musters an army & invades Nation A.
- Dislike of a neighboring country. This was a reason for the Arab-Israeli wars.
Corollaries of #3:
- Desire for land/territory. It may be for the leader's own aggrandizement or for a practical reason; i.e. more cropland to feed a too-large population.
- Desire for natural resources, such as oil or natural gas.
- Desire for access to bodies of water, for shipping & trading ability. Landlocked countries particularly have a tendency to attack neighbors due to this issue.
Corollary of #4:
- A distraction, to keep a population focused on that instead of on the government. The Arab-Israeli wars of 1967 & '73 occurred for that reason among others.

Basically if the cat is trapped inside the box & upon opening the box it either lives or dies (by release of some kind of poison), both possibilities "exist" simultaneously until you open the box...At that exact instant, one possibility "collapses" into nonexistence & the other plays out. I don't know the math behind it.
Isn’t it more like, you don’t know if the cat is alive or dead until you see it? Like… it’s not one or the other until viewed? A very strange prospect lol

@slowdecline48 I know a professor —with a PhD and all ...who teaches quantum mechanics — who once told me he doesn't understand a thing himself and that his sole purpose in life is to spread confusion and misery to others 🤣
So basically there is this important quantum rule or well it’s called the Copenhagen interpretation — which says a quantum system exists in superposition...meaning all possible states exist at once… until someone observes it. Observation makes the system ‘collapse’ into one of the states.
Also there is this incredible thing called quantum entanglement which defies logic, distance, cause and effect. When two particles become entangled they get linked in such a way that their states are instantly connected, no matter how far apart they are. You could separate them by lightyears and still — change something about one and the other responds instantly. Romantic or creepy.
S yeah.. spooky and absurd is what Quantum Mechanics is!

Speaking of Einstein, yeah, he didn't like quantum anything...thus his statement "God does not play dice with the universe". As we've seen in the decades since, Einstein was brilliant but that particular comment was wrong, at least when it comes to particles (& socks in a dryer or washing machine).

My question is:
If nothing happens until you observe it… How do we know nothing happens? Because we can’t observe it… to know. Like, how can we see what happens if you can’t see it…? (I feel like none of this makes sense but you get my meaning lol)
@jesusredeemedme2425 Kiara .. yes you are right and your question actually makes perfect sense ... its the whole paradox of quantum mechanics. We cant see what happens before observation but experiments (like the double slit one) show that things behave differently when unobserved. So its not that nothing happens... its just that reality doesnt pick one version of events until we look (I know it doesnt make sense). And we dont know why it is like that. Your confusion is the same confusion that puzzled Einstein, Bohr and Schrodinger.

@Amanda84 I think everybody except the Americans use the word "autumn" instead of "fall". But with the increase in the social media use "fall" has become part of an "aesthetic trend" and more people have started to use it.
The word grateful comes from the Latin root "gratus" which means "thankful".. we use it for another English word "gratitude". So it is not related to "great" but "gratitude". (When I first started learning English, I really struggled with spelling and plural forms. So my tutor at the time introduced me to Latin roots, Greek roots, French roots..loan words etc which helped me understand why words are spelled a certain way or how their plurals are formed..that's how I ended up with dictionary knowledge lol)
