Jewish, but I wasn't always like I am now. Believe it or not, I grew up eating bacon & eggs some mornings....(Reform people are very relaxed) I understand why people like it: It's salty, crackly, when it's cooked right it does taste good. But after a certain point in my life--this was a while after I reached adulthood--I started to take the basic dietary rules more seriously. My more traditional relatives were one influence in that direction. I'm not that hard-core now but I still follow them, to a degree.
Florida story: The last time I ate bacon was in...2021, I think?... I was at the nearby Waffle House that afternoon. (I've eaten at this place many times; they know me there) This white couple in their 20's walked in, sat down & ordered some food. Shall I say they were not of the highest quality? Can I say that here? Anyway they were already bickering with each other & the woman would not shut up. Finally her boyfriend loses patience & threatens her with bodily harm. At that point the more experienced waitress intervened &, after a heated discussion, threw them out. Their meal was unfinished. The man hadn't touched his bacon, & the waitress took the plate off the table they had just left--& put it in front of me.
She was not aware that I don't eat the stuff, but...given the situation, I thought it wouldn't be right to refuse. It was free, after all. And I understood what she was telling me.
I had forgotten until then how much salt is in slices of bacon. 🤣

Well I was a fairly regular customer there at the time, & haven't caused trouble. More than once I've gone in when the place was full, there were two cooks there & they were backed up with a few orders. I have never gotten impatient, not once. (It doesn't make anything go faster & just p!sses people off, so getting huffy & raising your voice is pointless) When I go to Waffle House & order something, I figure it'll come when it comes. I try to tip generously; if I can't then I'll still give them something. My guess is the waitress was telling me she appreciated it.

Imagine the combination of the most concentrated fish essence with concentrated salt flavor.
I'll admit that I didn't like them for a long time, and eventually got used to them because of being SUBJECTED to them over and over. Now I love them. I buy 12 packs of the little tins on Amazon all the time.

Cheese overpowers the taste of everything you put on a pizza, and therefore, should generally be minimized.
Also, pineapple belongs on burgers and never on pizza.
Another also, I love burnt popcorn. My granny used to purposely snack on it that way, and I got a taste for it when I was a little kid.

@Torean Ditto on going light on the cheese & leaving pineapple off pizza. As I said in a previous thread, putting pineapple chunks on a pizza should be outlawed at the federal level. Any pizza parlor found using pineapple slices should have its business license revoked, & all assets confiscated from the business--& from the owner(s). Yes, that includes personal assets too.

Bwahaha, you feel as strongly about it as I do. Also, canned pineapple, in general, is a horrid disgusting substance under any circumstance. I think the difference between real pineapple and canned is about the same difference as grapes picked freshly off the vine vs grape flavored cough medicine.

I love snacking on fresh pineapple... But I have never tried pineapple wine. Now I really want to. Maybe it's because I generally stay away from white wines. I'm a red merlot/zinfandel kinda guy. I really seem to like Chilean wines in particular.
