Are tattoos a sin?

I have wanted a tattoo for years and always went back and forth on if it's a sin or not, from what I read in he bible it is but then there are several Christians who says it's not a sin, I would really appreciate any opinions no hard feelings at all. I want the God is greater than the highs and lows sign on my wrist Also if you think it is or isn't a sin can you tell my why Thanks :)

I have known a lot of Christians with tattoos and it would pretty much depend on how fundamental you think you are. It might be best NOT to display your faith on parts of your body that would normally show, because, in some professional circles, it could prevent you from obtaining certain jobs or promotions. Another issue is that tattoos are permanent, fade over time, and if you are tired of it, it is expensive to take out. You could try a temporary tattoo first to see if it works for you.

As far as "sin" is concerned, there are a lot of rules in the Old Testament which are simply not working any longer for Christians, such as diet, for instance, or the obedience you would owe your father or your husband. I would check with the pastor of your parish.

Some members of a Protestant church of which I was a member believed it was a sin. They also believed having your ears pierced was a sin. Going down that path, then wearing clothes made from two or more different kinds of cloth is also a sin. I have no tattoos, but my ears are pierced. Same for the associate pastor of the church. Her take on that was times have changed. What tattoos and piercings meant that many years ago had different meanings that what we believe today. Your tattoo idea sounds inspiring for yourself, but also for others who might see it. What does your heart say? Do what feels right to you.

Hi, I just wanted to share my humble opinion on the subject. I want to live my life accompanying with God's love and pleasure too. I am a Muslim but of course I love and respect all people and universe.

For the fact matter, tattooing is not allowed in Islam, also not allowed in Old Testament.

The wisdom behind it is probably: Trying to change the original beautiful creation is not seen as a good action.

But the actual reason behind all belief based duties and prohibitions is,Divine will, it is as God wishes so. Because whatever He wishes is, for the eternal happiness of His creation.And the perfect order, beauty, wisdom in all universe is just an apparent proof for this. But we cannot always grasp the whole wisdom behind His works at first instance. Sometimes science reach that level of understanding then explains, sometimes it is just our heart intuition that feels right , sometimes our free pure conscience justifies His works.

Well it is something like, you have your trust on your parents who have never failed your trust with their compassionate and caring manners to you, then they want a thing from you which you cant fully understand the whole reason, but you do it because you love and trust them.
