Best friend forever is a myth...
@Ayurabloom77 in the time you were together, did she make you feel like home?
@aTinyDroplet
At the beginning, yes. For many years, she felt like home. But as time passed and she changed, that feeling slowly disappeared.
@Ayurabloom77
your title says it all. .
Maybe not a myth but a made-up fairy tale from movies or books. so many seem to find out later then you and the hurt and disappointment are a lot to take. We will have lots of best friends in a lifetime some will last longer than others and some fade.
When friendships fade you are correct one person cannot fix or save it. embrace all that you learned and enjoyed in your time together focus on that. we grow and change in our lives I had great friends in each section of life some I thought would last but people change or move or simply you no longer fit each other's lives. one pops up in dreams now and again, we tried to rekindle what we had but we are different people now.
@Ayurabloom77
I think it is not foolish. It might seem so. But it might be the only way to not lose yourself. You keep the value of what was important. Denial, erasure etc. seems simpler and might work for some. But for some it’s like loosing part of themselves and happiness capability with it.
Friendships are always hard to navigate, friendships will fade over time, and people will change. Friendships are hard because friendships stems from pure care for the other person, and when it slips away, it can difficult to get over. This feeling is completely normal! But, friends will always come and go, and it’s best to always maintain your happiness independent of who your friends are.

My dear what a beautiful story! I can imagine how tough this has been for you, I really empathised with your story and honestly you should be proud of your loyalty and your ability to care so deeply for someone, as well as to give genuine love.
Some losses are very challenging to handle, however, this experience was neither a waste of time nor meaningless connection for both of you. Even though she could not or chose not stay in your life for whatever the reason it might be, all the memories and lessons you guys experienced together will remain in your heart, which is something to be grateful for, even if she is not able to recognise it yet.
As you already know, gratitude is the fastest way to set us free from anything bad that may have happened in our lives, and despite the circumstances I can tell that you have embraced this experience remarkably well, which is something most people can't do at all.
I truly believe that every person who enter our lives is to serve a purpose, think of it just like the four seasons ( winter, autumn, summer and spring) , every season helps us appreciate the others more fully right? So, people work in the same way, they come and go just like the seasons, and it doesn't mean they were unimportant, yet they are essential to our personal growth among many other things.
What I mean by that is that your friend was crucial to your personal development, maybe even professional, and right now, it's time to explore a new season that will allow you to experience endless possibilities, sometimes better than you ever expect.
I am not saying that it's going to be easier to forget her, because the goal it's not to forget her completely, but to remember without pain and resentment for what could've been. So, as long as you are able to place her in the ''right shelf'' , you can access her memories, just like an old book that no longer serves you but it remains in the shelves, allowing access at any time.
Last but not least, it's time to open up space for new books during this new season, there will be incredible stories waiting for you, which might become of your favourites books. who knows ?
I wish you all the best during this process, and remember that you've already taken important steps forward.
i love what you’ve wrote. u talk so deeply and poetically. i don’t think i can say anything to make you stop missing your friend. i agree with ur words also. i don’t believe in things lasting forever. anything really. wish i did but…well i guess that’s life. i’ve lost a friend recently similarly and reading ur post i connected with it so so much. i understand how u feel. it sucks so bad. i see him everywhere. in every song i want to send him. in every joke i want to text him. it’s torturous. it’s crazy how people you’d expect to be here forever just disappear huh. ur not alone in how u feel. i see u and i get u more than you’ll ever know💕
@Ayurabloom77 Hi Ayurabloom, I'm so sorry you are going through this🫂. All I want to say is that you can tell her your feelings, but you can't change her. It's very hurtful to experience this. I truly hope you can get through this tough time.
