What makes you feel someone hates or is hostile to you if you do not know them?

I do not know I am not in your place, but I have seen people who do not know each other make Assumptions about others instead of meeting people and finding out.  it takes time to see a person. hostile seems around a lot and those people are just unhappy with themselves.

too many think they can label others and make up their mind before they give others a chance... people. maybe they believe stereo types or something.

@niceKitten2066 That's a difficult spot to be in, as i don't know the full situation do you feel it's possible to ask them about it? Not in an accusing way. More so like " Hey I don't want to assume but I've been getting this vibe that you may not like me. Can you help me understand the situation better? "

@niceKitten2066 First of all I hope you are OK...

I don't know in which environment is this happening, because in general we should always ignore people who hate us, bit but if you interact with these people, I would then try to communicate with them and try to find out what is the reason of their behavior, although I if we are talking about hostility and hate, communicating might not be easy but at least you try...

Another option is removing yourself from that context so it doesn't affect you but I don't know if that is a possibility...
And finally, unprovoked acts of kindness is usually a powerful weapon against hate.. In our society we are trained sadly To react in the same way we are treated.. which is why When people hate and you are kind to them, They feel disarmed and they might rethink their behavior

Have a hug and good luck 😊

If you're facing "extreme hostility," the priority is to remain safe. My feeling is that if someone doesn't know you, and they're hostile anyway, 1) it can't possibly be your fault, 2) their behavior is evidence of a mind that's not functioning rationally.  The only exception to that is if someone has convinced them of some negative thing about you.

Frankly, I don't recommend approaching someone who's overtly behaving this way. It could actually make things worse.  If it's a case of being in a safe, civilized environment and the the person may simply have an unhappy expression towards a lot of people, then a non-intrusive "hello" may make sense, but if you get truly hostile vibes, I think remaining safe is the priority.  Like the saying in the story "The Last Unicorn, "don't attract the attention of a harpy!"

I’ve learned that haters are guna hate and it says more about them than it does about me. I’ve learned to choose to love myself and spread it, but without expecting everyone to like me or love me back. People who hate are likely stuck in negativity and I try to leave it where it is and realize that their opinions don’t actually mean anything about who I truly am. Someone can call a banana stupid and purple but does it actually make it true? I’m trying to recognize and define my own worth without letting others affect it. It takes time like any other skill to hone. Hope this helps friend, and I’m sending good vibes your way 🫶🏻

Guys this may seem very exaggerated but it is real: as a woman and in my 20s I met a good amount of people who try to act in very hateful ways toward me without knowing me (many are from job or interview). They intentionally tried to shxt on me and make me feel bad.

I think a good amount of them tried to do shxt because of their feeling small/undervalued within them so they have to fire on people they think that has more advantage or look better or feels somewhat better than them.
