Drinking

These past few days I’ve been trying out drinking to see if it helps anything. I’m both underage and underweight, so I figured I’d be intoxicated pretty fast but… either alcohol really doesn’t help or I just didn’t drink enough of it.

In fact, it actually completely crushed my self-worth because I was very scathingly honest with myself. I have no idea what to do because I’m in an even worse position now, and it doesn’t seem like drinking actually makes the edges softer or anything.

Maybe I just didn’t drink enough, I don’t know. I’ve been scaling up how much I have, last time was about a half-glass, so…

I’m lost, weary, tired, and I don’t know what to do anymore. I just… need someone to talk to, I think, so if you’re available let me know?

@auroa168 Hey, I'm truly so sorry that you're going through so much 🙁 I understand the urge to drink alcohol, but it's not good for your health 💖 You matter so much. I really hope you find the safety and support that you deserve 🍀 Sending you all my love and *hugs* 🐾💕

@auroa168 I am experiencing grief as well and it is not always easy. Alcohol is not an answer or solution. Call or text 988, it's a great resource.

@auroa168 As a recovering alcoholic, I can tell you with certainty that it does not make anything better. Alcohol lies to you, you may feel better for a fleeting moment, but will feel worse for a lifetime. Alcohol steals from you. Your time, money and memories will be lost in a bottle, never to return. Your money is better spent on something meaningful for yourself. Spend your money on a new journal, go see a movie that you’ve wanted to see; don’t waste it on poison. Alcohol hurts you. The next morning you’ll spend the day exhausted and in pain; feeling sick instead of rejuvenated. Alcohol will keep you dwelling in the past, instead of growing towards your future. You have so much potential, don’t trade your potential to the devil for momentary pleasure.

@ScottYhePhoenix i just don’t know what else to do anymore. my hope is that it’ll maybe numb me out or something. I made a promise to someone to keep going, this is the only way i know to keep it 😕

@auroa168 Can you or are you seeing a therapist? One idea is to reach out through your school counselor, often they have the resources to help you get what you need. Depending on how big your school is, they may even have someone on campus you can talk to. This would be the first step. What you’re going through is hard. Nothing that’s worth anything in life comes easily, but you’re doing the right thing. I’m really proud of you. So instead of self soothing through substances, look for resources available to you that will help you cope in a healthy way.

I'm so sorry you're feeling so lost and weary right now. Please give yourself a break from trying to 'fix' this with alcohol—your mind is already telling you it's making things feel heavier, not lighter. I am absolutely here if you need someone to talk to. You don't have to navigate this by yourself. Reach out whenever you're up for it.

@auroa168

alcohol is a useless tool to deal with anything

life is hard but you have to make it work for yourself. you can feel bad while drinking alcohol or bad while doing any other activity u pick, there is so much out there to numb your thoughts

you have to be strategic to not make urself worse in the process

i like to write poems that i will never read to anyone, paint my nails, watch videos, stare at a wall or even scrolling on my phone is better than something that will cause you more problems. alcohol only makes things harder. u dont have to do things with the goal of making yourself feel better. things will not be better from one day to another. but u can choose something neutral that wont harm u further. the goal is to just exist and survive for now

please find someone to talk to who you trust. things will be okay i promise

xoxo

@auroa168  are you just venting, or did you want feedback?

If the latter, we'd need a LOT more context.  Do you have insurance? Where do you live, what nation? Do you live with relatives?   Have you been diagnosed with anything?  Are you supposed to be taking any medication, but not doing it?
