Can we lose something immaterial?

Pondering life on my couch in a onesie, procrastinating doing the dishes, I began swimming in the cosmic brainwave of losing self belief and did a micro research session.

It would appear the causes of lost self belief according to Google are:

Bullying

Depression

Bad Friends

Harsh parental standards

Physical insecurities

Lack of experience

Trauma

Academic challenges

Contentious divorce between parents

Disapproving authority figures

Loneliness

Negative environments

Negative feelings

Relationship issues

Society

Substance abuse

Each one is coming with their own layers to go through of course, like an apple where there's the skin (Label.), fruit (Layers.) and core (Lessons.) and each added one potentially increasing the complexity of healing with the bounce-back and resilience depending on an individual's 'upbringing, personality, environment and genetics', or, 'nature vs nurture'.

Buddhist monks recently found a state of being that creates brainwaves different and more nuanced and profound from anything recorded or recognized before. It's as if the mind goes from normal to expert in terms of the ability to process information.

Also in yoga, such practices as yoga nidra are about going into and remaining in the state we experience between sleeping and wakefulness...something children are purported to be perpetually in, where the ego is completely inactive and for all intents and purposes, non-existent.

The Glo YouTube channel expanded on paradigms in one of their episodes (With Byron Katie), stating how there's all types of these shifts...some small and quite innocuous and others that are massive - a 'slap across the face' that can change your whole life, like a good pair of underwear.

Finally, in indigenous cultures there's a medicine wheel where each 'slice of the pie' represents a different aspect of the whole. Layering this like bananas on the banana split Maslow ice cream hierarchy of needs with community as the cherry on top can create an effective way to 'eat the apple'.

Doesn't do the dishes though, dammit.

@communicativePond1728 Yes, we can lose something immaterial, like self-belief. Reflecting on this while procrastinating, I found that causes include bullying, depression, toxic friendships, harsh parental expectations, physical insecurities, trauma, and more. Healing from these is complex, influenced by nature and nurture. Practices like meditation and yoga can help, as can understanding paradigms of personal growth discussed by thinkers like Byron Katie. Indigenous medicine wheels and Maslow's hierarchy of needs illustrate interconnected aspects of life and healing. Despite these insights, they don't wash the dishes. Dammit.
