Home is where the heart is
Some people find a home that lasts. Others have to build it again and again. Not by choice but because life keeps changing, because we keep growing or because things fall apart.
And after all that trying, home doesn't always feel like home. Sometimes it feels more like a shelter, something we build just to protect ourselves from the bad weather.
It's fleeting, it's exhausting.
But it still matters 💙
Even if you're rebuilding, even if it doesn't last forever. It's still you choosing to try again.
And maybe one day, you'll build something that doesn't just keep you safe. Something that keeps you still, keeps you there. Not just a shelter. A place to stay.
And I hope you keep going until you reach that day.
@BlueDarkAurora
So well put! 💛
In the most metaphoric sense possible xD ~ I consider my “home” to be the safest sanctuary within me. Nobody else can see it, nobody else has access to it so nobody else can ruin it for me. ✨
I hope everyone can have a home of their own within them, where they return to, whenever the outside world creates a lot of noise or disturbance! 💛
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou love this sun! So deep, so wise. Thanks for sharing ❤️
@Creamyyy It means a lot to me that you could resonate with the depths here! 🥰💗
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou Thank you 💛
I hope to find that for myself one day too. I'm so glad you've found a safe sanctuary within yourself, that's why your light shine so brightly.
Keep shining always 🌻
@BlueDarkAurora 💖💖 great message 💖💖 I found my forever home💖 have you found yours??
@Tinywhisper11 Thank you 💖
I'm so happy you've found your forever home. I hope it's always filled with warmth, love and care. A space that holds all of you, everything you love and all your beautiful art 💖 May you always be surrounded by friends who feel like a family, a family that loves you unconditionally.
For me home was always the person I lost. Now I hope I can build something similar for myself with all their memories 🌸
@BlueDarkAurora
When I think "home" two ideas come into my mind.
One of them is home as a physical object. Some of us in Europe used to live in homes where their parents or grandparents lived. Those buildings were coming from one generation to another, and it gave an enormous sense of identity.
But unfortunately I am not in this pattern. During my over-a-half-century-long life I moved out and moved in around 25 times. Some years ago it really came to the point that my favourite books (definitely too many of them 😆) are permanently stored in cardboard or plastic boxes.
From this, classically European, point of view I am homeless.
But "home" has a different meaning to me, too.
The lyrics in my favourite Metallica song says:
"And the road becomes my brideI have stripped of all but pride (...)"
But I don't understand "pride" too literally. I believe it is carrying on our human dignity, our values and core beliefs, wherever we go, and - last but not least - keeping our loved ones in our heart.
In this meaning I am a snail - carrying my home on my back 😊
They say "your home is where your love is". Maybe that is true...
@jacek73 carrying our values and keeping our loved ones in our heart >>> that's such a nice way of defining "home". Thanks for sharing ✨️
@jacek73 "In this meaning I am a snail - carrying my home on my back" 💙 love that, so beautifully said. What a sweet way to live ^-^
@BlueDarkAurora
Thank you. Not so sweet if you drag 100 kg (200+ lb) of books and periodicas with you 😆
But they shaped my past and future (and my identity) in a significant way. I know I should get rid of most of them (garage sell, give out to libraries or charity auctions), or at least digitalize it.
What a lovely post... and even lovelier answers...!!
I guess for me I haven't found home yet but i feel it's on its way soon...
@BlueDarkAurora Long story, I lived in a Victorian home a few days once, and it was a really amazing experience, it wasn't home, but in someways I liked it far more. Maybe it was the freedom of living somewhere new?
@genericbeing Alright I'm officially jealous! Victorian houses are so ethereal, dark in the most peaceful way. I would love to live in one, even just for a few days. I'll be roaming around in a white gown holding a candle lol
I like the freedom that comes with new places, no one knows you so you can rewrite all that you don't like 💙
