How do I get better at phone calls

I need to make an important phone call but I literally can't. I tried this morning and made sure I had everything I needed and I wrote down what I was going to say but I ended up shaking having a panic attack and crying. I hit myself then gave up. I don't know how to overcome this.

This sounds stressful. I know it's important, can someone else do it on your behalf?

Or perhaps are there alternative options like a text message, social media or an email, where you can explain how difficult you find making calls?

At least you tried to prepare yourself beforehand, you are trying to make the effort :)

It's a bank thing so idk... I already tried going in person but I need to talk over the phone because it's related to my online account. I wish I could talk to their virtual assistant or something but I can't because I'm locked out and they don't have a number to text just call 😔

@agreeableSkies9889 That's a shame, can you sit with a friend or family member then, they can take over the call and explain, you might need a minute or two to take a deep breath.

Or maybe having something low in the background like music or a tv show, might help? I hope you manage to get through it :)

  1. Box breathing

  1. Mantra with breathing (you can create your own)

    "I am valuable" (inhale)

    "My words are valuable" (pause)

    "I am good" (exhale)

    "My words are good" (pause).

  2. Everything you say can add some value to other person's life, even if it will be some jibbrish. You are having impact.

Have a friend call you and practise your speaking skills there. If you don’t have a friend, then record yourself speaking. It will sound cringe but medicine tastes bitter but will make you better.

Bonus tip: always end your sentences with a lower pitch. It will make you sound more confident.

Practice will make you more confident and also having a short list of questions in front of you will help
