How to help someone who's feeling hopeless?
I have a friend online who's had depression for years without end. She has tried alot of medications and therapy and nothing has worked. She is trying to enter a residential program, but after that she plans to pass away. Have you been in this situation, or talked to someone like this before? What helped?

I is exhausting trying to help a person who feels hopeless ... we try and yet they insist they have tried it all etc we walk on eggshells hoping to not say the wrong thing but there is a point where if they want to get better they may need to try something they did before but with a different outlook.... you cannot change their feelings and some simply enjoy some or as many as they can find trying to help.
there is no one size fits all fix but if you are supportive and try it does help at least short term.
