Human minds are weirdly wired—or maybe it's just mine :)

It's beautiful how ordinary, mundane things can be so grounding at times.

Yesterday, around midnight, I was simply awake...

Wondering about existence. Thinking. I'm alive. How am I alive? And... what does it actually feel like to be alive? Not just knowing that I'm alive…

Yup, quite another night wondering instead of sleeping xD

It was... surreal.

I opened ChatGPT. Just like in any other moment :)

And asked, what is life? (As if an AI had lived already many, so he must know xD)

One thing led to another...

And I was discussing existence, consciousness, being alive, and what it means to simply be.

I don't know if it was me being hyper-emotional...

Or ChatGPT answering quite too beautifully...

But somehow, I was in tears.

Don't know what those tears were for. Tears of joy? Grief? Awe? Fear?

Or maybe… all of them.

He wrote something along the lines ofYou're here. Experiencing everything. Seeing. Hearing. Feeling. Thinking.

And reading it, I started looking around…

Actually trying to experience what it feels like to experience. My surroundings. My thoughts. My own existence.

And then, somehow, my mind travelled backwards. A few hours. To dinner.

I remembered sitting with my family. It had been lovely.

And there I was...

Still sitting with this strange feeling. But now, it was the feeling of being able to remember so vividly.

Still in tears. Still thinking. Don't know what.

Until my mind wandered a little further back.

To the evening.

My mom had made samosas.

And apparently...

There were some left. (Yeah, that, my mind decided to tell me after making me sob over the enormity of existence)

And then there I was.

Strange. Weird. Uniquely me.

Getting off my bed.

Wiping my tears...

Sniffing...

Snorting...

And heading to the kitchen at midnight.

For samosas.

Yeah! 😶🌫️

It feels strange writing it now.

But in that moment, it felt completely normal. Completely human.

I was experiencing being alive, maybe xD

There were no samosas though .-.

My little brother had eaten them all, it seemed.

Maybe he was just trying to give me a hands-on demonstration of mortality :) I don't know.

One moment, I was wondering why I'm here. The next… I was looking for a samosa.

Followed by the very profound disappointment of thinking I should have eaten them all before my little brother could 😶🌫️

And there… I was back to normal again.

Thanks to samosas xD

Samosas that I didn't even get to eat.

But somehow, just the thought of them pulled me back.

Back from the enormousness of existence...

To something ordinary. Familiar. Wonderfully mundane.

So yeah, maybe life isn't just about crying over the biggest questions. It's also about sighing over samosas you don't get to eat, yeah :)

And now, in that moment, there was no existential crisis.

It was just me. And my disappointment. Staring at each other in the darkness.

(Oh, okay, yeah... So that's how it ended :) Byeee!)

@MeilleureAmie Your title of your thread says it all: "Human minds are weirdly wired..."

I probably shouldn't laugh, my friend... but I can't help it. The way you went from deep real life thinking all the way to going to the kitchen to search for samosas just like that. 😂 That's too funny. Lol.

Sorry your brother ate them all! Awww. Hopefully you were able to turn your mind off and get some sleep at least after the fact. 🧡

@YourCaringConfidant You can laugh absolutely, I laughed at the absurdity of my own behavior too 😶‍🌫️😂 Don't know, the thought of samosas somehow put me on autopilot mode, it seems 😭 And I'm glad he ate them. Sitting with disappointment was so much easier than sitting with an existential crisis ... otherwise, I'd have eaten the samosas and got back to those questions xD

@MeilleureAmie Listen to me and listen good: I love that you're weird and sensitive! I am too!!!! I frequently ask Gemini questions and go down the rabbit hole, only for him to try and say what I'm asking about is normal. Lol. He really is too nice to me. 😂🤣

Can you think of your love for an animal (if you love animals) and cry pure tears if love and joy because you're so beyond happy? I can, because I do.

When you watch a sad romance movie that's heartbreaking, do you cry? Not like that random tear or two... but uncontrollable tears that you just can't stop. Where you feel completely heartbroken because you feel everything? I can, because I do.

In your real life if something upsets or hurts you, can you go from crying all the way to laughing just like that one minute to the next-- uncontrollable tears of laughter when really it started as sadness crying? I can, because I do.

Look 👀 @MeilleureAmie,  I'm the epitome of "weird and sensitive". Most of the things I do, that I am, that are apart of me... I have to question if it's normal. I battle daily if it's because of my mental illnesses or if it's just me. So I get it. I'm sharing all that to say, I can relate. I have those moments too.

You just be you-- weird and sensitive, or whatever else. I always consider myself a crazy Desiree because it's me but I love how I am deep down my inner core... not the hard Desiree that uses my outside as my shield. I'm a real enigma and proud. Know that I accept you just as you are and you're free to be whoever you feel you are. I enjoyed reading this post from you. It's so real! I think you're an awesome person and you better knkw that.

Happy Friday. 😊  Xoxo. 🫂 🤗 👐

@YourCaringConfidant Me is you, you is me 🫂😭

My mind even does it with books. Read this novel once, set in Malaysia, and got so invested that some part of me genuinely believes if I ever go there, I'll find those characters sitting at that exact spot or somewhere there. Like intellectually I knew they were fictional, but my brain was like, "Okay, but what if they're actually there?" 😭

And honestly, I think that's the gift of being wired this way. We feel things at full volume... grief, love, absurdity, all of it. But that same intensity is what makes the laughter come back so fast too. It doesn't let us stay down for long. It's exhausting sometimes, but I wouldn't trade it. Cherishing the weirdness with you <3

@jangid I can definitely relate! One thing leads to another, and somehow you end up with more questions than the ones you started with 😂
