I just want to be loved
Hi everyone, I (24M) has been feeling lonely recently and started wanting a relationship.
Usually I don't turn to apps for advice but my family and friends haven't been the best support recently.
I've been put off dating and finding love since a rough breakup in high-school. Now, whenever I go out, I see couples that are peers and can't help but want what they have. To experience that feeling again.
I'm an introvert, A nerd, I don't like clubbing. From what I heard, that makes me boring? I have a hard time going up to talk to girls. I guess I just lack the courage. I'm not that playboy type to be able to chat to any girl I see. I've tried dating apps as an alternative but I just get ghosted or unmatched which has taken a toll on my self-esteem.
I'm slowly gyming and working on myself but I can't help but fall into a slump thinking that I'm not good enough, that I'm ugly or maybe its too late and that there's no one out there for me.
I don't know what to do anymore. I want love yet somedays I'm fine after seeing all these cheating stories. I'm afraid that I'll never find someone. That I'll succumb to loneliness and become numb.
I just want to find love, to be loved but I'm just feel I'm unworthy, unworthy, maybe cursed?
Its tough out here.

It is hard when we look around and it seems many are in couples etc. you are also young with plenty of time to find your person.. perhaps you can meet others by just being friends first sadly many girls your age are shallow and may not see it is not the package but what is inside. if you want to work on your appearance do it for you not anyone else when you are comfortable in you it shows.
many people i may not have been attracted to i was as i got to know them as a person....
@SadSailboat43 try not to despair! You will get there! Don't rush into it. I know people who married young and failed and others who waited surprisingly long but did great! Everyone's life is different but that doesn't make it less important. Be patient, keep working on yourself, and keep an open mind. You may not even realize the opportunity is in front of you until it is there!
This must be very frustrating and tiring for you, but try to keep your head up! The fact that you are working on yourself means you are doing great things!

Hi there, I read your story and couldn't help but think it's very similar to how I feel. I am a 37 year old female. I just want to share things from my perspective so you know your not alone. I've only had 2 long term relationships totaling 7 years. My last one ended in May of 2016. Throughout the last 9 years I'vedefinitely had moments where I wanted what other couples have in a good way, just wanted that connection with someone.
Being introverted is not a bad thing, I've become way more introverted the last oh idk 7 years or so. I like you, don't do clubs (although I did go to an 80s one once and it was great, but only for the music lol) I don't do bars either I've always been a more quiet person if I went to a party I was the one playing with the dog, reading a book or cleaning up the mess while people were still having a good time lol.
It does not make you boring at all! You do what you like and are comfortable with, nothing wrong with that. There is also nothing wrong with doing those things as long as your smart about it. You can go to a club/bar ect and have fun while being safe.
It can be hard for us (females) to talk to guys as well. I can imagine it's hard especially now and days everything seems so backwards in a way. I used to believe you would just know the right person to talk to but now idk I think some times you just have to take the chance, leap of faith if you will. Worst that might happen is they don't talk to you, and then your in the same boat as of you never tried at all. But they might just talk back, you never know until you try. Which I totally understand is easier said than done.
Dating apps are horrible!! I recently gave it 2 months, and for me when I'm on the apps I'm always honest and open but that seems to be something guys (no offense) don't know how to do. I know woman lie too. I've never felt like I was good enough because in my last relationships I was kind, loving, went to the moon and back basically for my partners and I still got left for girls that were mean to them.
But the guys on the dating apps would all say the same things: your good enough for me, I want the chance to prove it, your pretty and on and on.. but then ghost me after a few days.. so of course if they said I'm good enough why did they ghost.. to say my self esteem has been shattered and my self worth has been brought all the way down is almost an understatement. (Days of crying.. days!) Not to mention the trust issues.. omg! I'm afraid now I'll never recover.
I say all that to show its the same for us girls. I'm really sorry the dating world is like that now and that your feeling this way. I wouldn't wish those feelings on my worst enemy because no one deserves to feel alone or like they are not good enough when all were doing is our best, being our genuine slefs and we get made to feel like no one will want us or love us.
I have to belive its not too late lol because if it's too late for you then what chance do I have! All jokes aside it's easier to let your self think that way then to continue trying, I know, but we can't give up! Our person is out there somewhere and even if it takes a while to find them you keep showing up and working on yourself and let your light shine because someone will see you one day and think they won life's greatest prize! You'll become their everything and you won't even remember what you felt like now. Your not ugly, and you deserve love in its truest and purest form!
I know I'm going to keep looking even if it kills me because one day/week/month with the right person is better than 20 years with the wrong one.
I feel you I really do but it's not a curse, it is tough. Tougher than it should be for sure, but when you keep showing up and pushing through that's when you'll find it.
Much love to you and best of luck! This communityhas been so great to me so far, lots of love and encouragement to be found here. ❤️
I (18F) have only been in two relationships and I already know that going into a relationship with insecurities usually deepens them. You are worthy of love and the right person will find you plenty interesting, but looking for someone to love you when you have difficulty loving yourself is something I personally do not advise.
You might have heard that you shouldn’t get in relationships when you’re lonely just like you shouldn’t go grocery shopping hungry… but when else would you feel the need to look for a relationship or shop for food?
Assuming you have friends and family(because I don’t know you from Adam), you can spend time with them and even ask what they like about you until you don’t feel as lonely.
You’re not cursed and you’re not unworthy, you just haven’t had much luck. From now on, I wish you the best of it.
😊🫶
