Letting Go of Guilt in Healing
One thing I’ve been learning is that healing doesn’t mean I have to carry guilt for the things I tolerated when I didn’t know better. It’s easy to be hard on myself, to wonder why I stayed, why I let things happen, why I still feel attached. But I remind myself: I was doing the best I could with what I knew at the time.
If you’re struggling with self-blame, I want you to know—you don’t have to punish yourself for what you went through. You deserve understanding, especially from yourself. Healing isn’t about shaming our past selves, but about guiding ourselves into something better.
What’s one thing you can forgive yourself for today? Even if it’s just a small thought, let yourself feel that weight lift. You deserve that peace.
I forgive myself for staying in a toxic abusive relationship for as long as I did. I’m out now and trying to heal and grow.
