Looking for somebody who has experience with RAD
My name is Patrick, I am 16 years old, and I grew up in foster care. My father was abusive toward my mother, my sister and I physically, emotionally, and sexually. Because of that, I was neglected physically and emotionally. Father was an alcoholic, and a drug addict, and my mother was busy protecting us, so she couldn't provide either. At the age of 6, I have myself, and 2 other mouths to feed, and I do that by robbing the local 711. At age 7, I went into foster care, and I was separated from my sister. My first foster family was just like my father, except I had food to eat. Barely. I stayed in that home until I was 11. At 13, I was adopted by 2 loving people who cared so much. But that failed, and I was unadopted this past October. Here's why. I couldn't love them. I didn't know how. I know there are parents on this site. How would u feel if ur kids didn't love u. If u have more than 1, I was their only, so imagine none of them loved u. What would u do? More often than not, I get the answer "I would still try." They did. For 2 years. I couldn't. I found out during that period that I had developed RAD. Google it, how it affects teens, and 90% of those symptoms are me. I came to this site looking for an expert that can help me, as I live in a group home, where there isn't a specific caregiver to treat it. I am fearful that I will suffer life long affects if I don't get it treated now. I have made friends, and even a gf on here, but I still would like some assistance. Anybody an expert??
@BeautifulPresense1234 At 7 Cups we do not have any experts who can help, unfortunately. We have volunteer listeners who are not experts, and who are not allowed to give advice. We also have professional therapists available for a monthly payment, but only for adults.
I Googled RAD as you suggested, and I didn't find any very clear information about treatment. I hope you'll be able to find listeners here who you can at least chat to about your situation.
