Need help💔

Hi. I'm a 15-year-old high school student.

I had a friend, I call her k here, and we got close in 9th grade. She first wanted me some class notes etc (I'm mostly good in studying and thre subjects). We were in different classes. We became friends and spent time together. In 10th grade, we were in different somehow sections, I mean in the same school, k was learing for chemistry Olympics and I was learning for university entrance exam etc. Well, I expected our friendship to continue, but it was like our distance was getting more and more. I wanted to stay friends. And we were at the first of the 10th grade. Their class location was different each day so I didn't know where she is. And then, it was like the distance got more and we just said hi if we saw each other, like far friends. Later 10th grade, she came to our section. She asked me to send her the pictures of some books. I told her I will bring them so she can take pics. She didn't answer. Now that 11th grade started yesterday, she came and found me and told me that she miss me so much etc. We hugged and talked a bit. Then she asked for the notes, the books, all things we did in 10th grade so she could go up with it. I told her to text me and remind and that I would bring so she can get home take pics and bring back tomorrow. She texted me. And her messages was so warm and friendly, as much as it felt unrealistic to me. And so... uncomfortable. It was her messages... Hello, my dear, have a good time. I'm sending you a message to remind you of everything related to the tenth grade. Class exams, quizzes, semester, midterm, maze test, ... I would appreciate it if you could bring me everything you have ❤️ Like the ninth grade don't miss anything, God forbid, my dear❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ I would appreciate it if you could send me today's lesson tips too ... 🤍. I brought some of them for her (they are so much and heavy). She found me and got them from me. She thanked simply.

Why am I feeling like I'm being used? Why did k behave so far the previous year and only appear when she want sth? I'm the kind of person who many people ask for help. And I do, whether they are my friends or classmates or even not. So does she think wanting help is tied to get friends dishonesty? Why do I feel so bad? If I don't do, I feel guilty,  if I say nothing, I would feel like I'm cheating on myself. What should I do? Should I tell her how I feel? But how? I have never done that with a friend. I'm feeling so messy. I wanna stop being used, being hurt, being seen like this. I'm tired of always struggling with saying yes or no. How should I think? What should I do?

It sounds like you’re feeling overwhelmed and hurt because your friend K seems to reach out mostly when she needs help, which makes you feel used and uncertain about the friendship. It’s completely okay to feel this way, and your feelings are valid. You deserve friendships where support goes both ways, not just one-sided favors. It might help to gently share your feelings with her—letting her know that you want your friendship to be about more than just help with school. Setting boundaries doesn’t mean you’re being unkind; it means you’re taking care of yourself. Remember, a good friend will respect your feelings and make an effort to balance the friendship. If not, it’s okay to rethink how much energy you give. Your well-being matters, and it’s important to be honest with yourself and others about what you need.

@moonlightinnight sweet girl, it sounds like you are in a similar situation that I was in before during my 8th grade year (that was 18 years ago holy cow, I feel old... lol) I am so sorry that you are going through this. My advice is talk to her as calmly as possible about how she is making you feel. Maybe have a few other friends there for moral support. Just remember we are all here for you sweetheart. 💖

I talked to the person about how they were making me feel and when that didn’t work, I requested for them to please leave me alone. I only spoke to them once after that occurrence and that was during Graduation practice because they had tripped over their robe and knocked over like 20 students in front of them. Come to find out that person was drunk and had been most of our school career without anyone knowing.

You have to tell her how u feel, as kind as you can. If she is hurt by how u feel then that’s not a true friend she’s only caring about herself. You can’t help how she’s making you feel and that’s valid its better to tell her and get it off your chest whether she gets upset at it or not atleast u were honest. Thats all that matters, friendships come n go. I once had to break up a trio friendship of mine in highschool because it didn’t feel like a friendship anymore n i told my friend how i was feeling ofc they just agreed and we distanced eachother for a long time until after highschool she texted me again and apologized for everything. So sometimes people take a very long time to realize how they are being, you just have to be honest at least.

I have similar issues and I don’t really know.

You could try matching her energy and see where it goes. If you feel guilty about treating her the way she does you, you don’t deserve to be around her. It may seem like an overreaction to you, but having a few really good friends is way better than having a lot of *** ones.

Hope this helps!

@moonlightinnight

Real friendships don’t knock only when they need something.

What you’re going through is a test many kind people face: choosing between being liked for what you give, or being respected for who you are.

And honestly? You already know the answer. You just needed someone to say it out loud.

Look, I get it. That weird guilt when you say no. The confusion when someone comes back all warm and sweet only when they want something. That mess in your head is real.

But here’s the truth: if she missed you, she would’ve found you before the notes.

And you? You’re allowed to draw a line. You’re not a bad person for wanting friendship, not favors.

@moonlightinnight

Ask yourself this:

If you stopped giving her notes or help would she still want to talk to you?
If the answer hurts, that’s not your fault. But it is your signal.
