Problem with feelings

Dont you think that we as a whole, especially nowadays, have problems with feelings? Dealing with them? TRUSTING OUR FEELINGS? Of course there is just a symptom and it is all complex and tied with other things...

But we so trust our feelings and we follow them as if our feelings are the truth or compass in our life. Yet come on... you can just be watching every day for a month depressing tv show and guess what... how u will feel? Depressed. But you will think depressed thoughts also, because it is connected. Right, come on?

I can marry a wife and the first stages of this butterflies in the stomach is all so beautiful but with time it is gone... and now we say "well, I dont love you anymore... I feel no love toward you... Idk...", and we dont even know that love is a decision of our will... and not feeling. Feelings are part of life... but they come and go, they can be as weather... and many times the feelings we feel is a result of what we are looking at, what we are focusing on or thinking about... and many times... we wake up and for no reason we feel depressed.  How can we trust our feelings?

It doesnt matter if I feel depressed... I will not do things that comes from the place of depression because I just feel like it. Because I feel sad I wont do sad things.

Following our feelings, trusting them... will ruin your life, harm you.

Feelings have their place, and we gotta learn to deal with them. But we cant ever trust them... as what we feel is always the truth or some kind of compass to live our lives.

What u think?

Thank you for sharing!

I would like to add: following our thoghts and trusting them may ruin your life also and likely bring even bigger disaster :)

Feelings, thoughts, senses and intuition cannot be controlled. But we should learn how to interact with them according to pur pesonality and individulity.

"As man thinketh, so he is."

We think, we speak, we act. I believe it starts with our thoughts. Well, I think we can control to a certain degree, as for example... what we focus on, what we think about, what music we listen to for example... like it has a huge influence over us.

Yes, it is about learning like how to cope with it, to discern... it is important. Thank you for commenting and sharing your heart! God bless u

On the contrary I trust my feelings and if they lead me to a vulnerable place so be it. I would rather feel than be numb to it.

I embrace the sadness and listen to sad songs, or watch sad movies because suppressing them, doesn't make me feel honest to myself.

When I'm over this dark mood, I appreciate feeling lighter and experiencing simple things that are going well.

It's not natural to be happy or positive 24-7 but we can learn to cope better on the challenging days, where possible :)

I am not saying to suppress something or to be a robot without feelings. I dont know, it is complex topic, I am learning myself, long way to learn.

I think it is more about discerning. If my mother dies... grief is a good thing and healthy. But we should go in a healthy way... not grieving like getting drunk, angry, pushing people away and that self destruction thing. U know? Like find a healthy way with emotions.

When I feel anger... I ask myself... why do I feel it... is it right? If I feel angry because I couldnt go on a holiday because my boss didnt give me the time off... and I have anger towards him because of my self interest which is not important... I say... well, this is not right, and childish... then I just reject it, and dont act upon it. But if I feel anger because someone is hurting other person... I think that is just and right, then I act upon it... but what way? Right... so it is a complex topic and important to learn to live and deal

@Amazinggracethatsavedawretchlikeme If someone is feeling an intense reaction, I would think they are less rational to say, Let's cope in a nice neat way.

However they react will feel right in that moment, for them, as an individual, some people cannot even control it anyway.

It's even worse if someone finds it extra tough to express themselves, it has to reveal itself in an unflattering way eventually.

That's funny, my mom gave me the nickname the robot. Abusive up bringing taught me how to hide my emotions 🙃

@Amazinggracethatsavedawretchlikeme I think you’re right. Many of us struggle not just with our feelings but with trusting them. We’ve become so used to overthinking, questioning, or even dismissing what we feel that it creates this disconnect within ourselves.

At the same time, emotions can be complex and sometimes overwhelming, so it makes sense why people hesitate to rely on them fully. Maybe it’s less about blindly trusting every feeling and more about learning how to understand and sit with them without judgment.

It’s definitely not simple, but conversations like this help us become more aware, and that’s already a step forward.

How to deal with problems and mind create thousands of thought at a time sometimes it impossible to deal with.

My opinion:

We all feel things, the thing is to learn how to acknowledge them and what they are doing and don't always act on them. If I act for example on my anger I will cause harm to someone else. If I for example act on my sadness I will cause harm to myself. The thing is to not act on our feelings. We can see them acknowledge them snd then think why we feel that way. We need to step back and watch at a 3rd person view. It's not always easy but it's manageable snd especially with practice. We shouldn't dismiss or bottle up what we feel. Instead we should acknowledge it and embrace is but not act on it.
