.. anyone know how to be okay with having no one in your life?

I’ve been on my own since the pandemic , lost all my friends, not close to family & things with my parents and siblings are very strained.

even now with the start of the new school year, at a new school. I still can’t seem to make or KEEP connections.

The conversations I have had, never lead to anything more & in the end im always disregarded after that. Left on seen, ignored in the hallways…

I’m at a point where I’m tired of feeling so bad everyday, tired of continuously wishing to have people to laugh with & talk to & sometimes even just cry with. I see it happen so early for others and I begin to think something’s wrong with me or the way I’m doing things. But I’m literally just a person who’s trying their best.

I think id be better off if I just stopped wishing for genuine connections, friendships & just accept the fact that maybe those things just aren’t in the cards for me. Cause honestly it hurts too much to keep wishing and watching it never Happen.

If Anyone has ever experienced this.. or relate in some way, please share ways you learned to be okay with having no one…

I’m tired of waiting & wishing. I hear that being friendless/ people less is freeing, but idk how cause I’ve been feeling really lonely for the past 3 years.

@lovingCup504

i find solace in alone time for awhile .... but then you people need connection .....

it is hard to tell why or how others seem so easy to make friends and i struggle still it is very hard to force yourself but once i did saying hello and ask about them people love to talk about themselves .....not always successful BUT better then making a wish

many people anymore are still distant since the pandemic the fear machine make people leery when meeting new people etc .....makes it harder for us who have difficulty making connection.

@lovingCup504 I became largely solitary a long time ago. If you're the kind of person who needs connections with other people, the only thing to do is to try to find them (be careful of who you pick--not everyone is worth your friendship). There's no point in trying to be something you are not. I am quasi-monastic by nature, so trying to be a social butterfly would be aggravating & futile for me.

If you really think that having a lot of friends is just not in the cards, then you have to cultivate emotional self-sufficiency. Remember that being alone & being lonely are two different things. It helps to have stuff to occupy your time. Pick up a hobby or if you already have one, do it until you get good at it, whatever it is...then keep doing it until you become great. It also helps to have books. Doesn't matter what kind; whatever you like to read is fine. Buy plenty of 'em to start (used bookstores & libraries that sell their excess inventory are terrific for this). Having a home library (even a small one) is great. It can help to develop one's intellect. If you prefer to read heavier stuff than bodice rippers & political rant tomes, great, but realize that that will further isolate you as you will inevitably become bored by average people.
