How do yall start a conversation?

I started my first chat with “hi there, my name is Kai. How are you doing?”

It's important to remember to continue the conversation. Many start it, but only a few continue  :)

Very true as I have come across this as well with some chats. I typically like to check back in the next couple hours or even day to see if they still needed a listening ear.

I am not a listener, but on the open forums it happens all the time, everyday, I think up to 90 percent don't continue their threads after 11-2 messages, even though many are supposedly asking for help.

That's a good way to start 🥰

Friendly, welcoming and pleasant 😊

It's important to just be you.

We won't always connect with everyone and that's fine, but you'll make a difference to many 🥰

Pretty nice actually, but (unsolicited advice)
I personally like to switch things up a bit every time with different listeners. Things like common abbreviations, a casual and very relaxed tone can help them open up and really verse out their thoughts well.

It also helps you stay fresh and authentic for the member, so there is more charm to ur convo.

"Hi welcome to 7Cups! I'm Tova, and I'll be your listener for the next hour. What brings you to chat?"

High warmth greeting and it sets an  expectation for the chat 🙂

Sometimes I start with "Hello, welcome to 7Cups and I applaud you for seeking help. How can I be a listening ear for you today?". I also vary between chats to not sound too generic.

Hey there. I'm TC, your listener for the next 30 minutes.

How are you doing today?

Honestly, that’s a perfectly good way to start! 😊 A simple “Hi there, how are you doing?” feels warm and welcoming. You don’t need anything fancy just give them space to respond and let the conversation flow naturally from there. 🫂💛
