         Ivy is 16 years old. She is great at academics. She has lovable parents. She has very few friends by her own choice, and they are very supportive. However, she feels lonely whenever she is not busy with her school.

        Ivy's thinking: I will not talk to anyone about how I feel because I don't think they can understand me.

        Parent's thinking: Ivy is quiet these days. She doesn't talk much. But we have no clue how to talk about it.

      🍃What are your thoughts on the above? 🌿

@Sirpi communication is vital because when we are struggling we convince ourselves no one cares or can help us when in reality our loved ones are trying to find a way to be let in to help us. Communicating clears up the misconceptions on both sides.

I think it's very important for parents to make an attempt to find out why Ivy is quiet. They need to approach the communication as open and comfortable even if they don't know what to say. This let's your children know that they can be comfortable talking about anything with their parents and they see their parents are at least trying, hopefully.

@Unseven

I see the keywords from yours... Communication, trying. Those are very important.

@Sirpi i think i relate to this hard, and it’s difficult when you want to help someone but they won’t open up to you. i also get ivy sooo much more because it’s so difficult trying to open up to others and feel understood. that’s why i came on here. i really wish society didn’t make expressing feelings and the way you are weird.

You mentioned one important key word, 'open up'. Thats true. Easiest way to solve is to open up and sometimes, most difficult to do is to open up. It's good to hear that you are in this space to talk and listen to us.

@Sirpi

I am a 58 year old adult, and I feel the same way.  My husband struggles to help me too.

I think we all feel same way sometimes.

@Cheri32

I think we all feel same way sometimes. It will be difficult at times to open up and communicate even with family members.
