The self-service kindness

Ah look, this is me thinking a lot again. This time about kindness.

What I mean by "Self-service Kindness"

It's kind of kindess that people gives so they can appear and tell everyone they are 'good people' So it's less about caring about someone, and more on stroking their own ego.

This "Self-service kindness" is more common than I thought. I've mostly seen it here in with listeners, but it happens off this site too.

There are listeners/people here that gives the vibes (or maybe it's just me thinking the worst) of I'm doing you favor by giving my time to be kind to you

Okay, don't get me wrong, I'm a Listener here so I very much advocate for boundaries and self-care are important. But that vibe doesn't really really scream warm and fuzzies.

Anyway that's on the site, but off site just happened earlier today. It doesn't feel good, I feel like I owe this person because they'vr been kind. And I dunno. I think their kindess is very self-serving, less about helping and more on so everyone can call them a good person.

@DreamyPal

Thank you for this I have seen it too ....

the reality is maybe some need that type of belief they are helping  others even when they are just collecting invisible and points for a scoreboard only they can see...

No one is keeping score  in life.... yet we are all told we should be keeping up with others.   Lately being "supportive" is the game some are trying to rack up "look at me " points for
