Venting

I'm losing control over my education again.

Today my mom told me my aunt called and said my uncle is now teaching at a coaching centre. She wants me to join his classes. My uncle doesn't charge us, so my mom immediately agreed.

The problem is that I've never felt comfortable with my uncle being my teacher. I always feel stressed, nervous, and hesitant around him and I don't learn well. I even told my mom that my cousin once told me not to study maths with their dad because they thought I deserved a better teacher.

My mom replied, "So what? Is your dad going to spend that much money on your education? Let them say whatever they want. You just need to study."

That really hurt.

It felt like she completely ignored what I was trying to say. I wasn't complaining about studying. I was trying to explain that I don't think this is the right learning environment for me.

Then she told me to ask my dad if he agreed, and if he did, I'd have to start going tomorrow.

I feel like everyone keeps making decisions about my education without asking how I feel. I know money is a problem but I wish someone would understand that I'm scared and uncomfortable instead of acting like my feelings don't matter.

I don't know... I just needed to get this off my chest.

That sounds frustrating. I am sorry to hear how your mother dismissed your feelings about your uncle teaching. I can understand how it feels like you have no say here. You mentioned that your uncle teaching makes you feel all these things, so he's taught you before? How you feel around him is it just related to teaching or something else too?

Hey, just want you to know, that if your uncle doesnt give out good vibes. Don't go for him, even if he is family. And if you dont feel comfortable, its pointless tbh cuz you would be jist wasting your time over their. However, if finance is tight, you can search similar topics on YouTube, their is a huge library of teachers and there is a high chance you'd find a great one too. Rest, if you are affiliated with any education institute, trying different teachers their or asking for their time can be helpful as well. I hope you make an informed decision and not feel pressured into doing something that you are not ok with. After all, you are your own individual. Hope you have a great day/night.

Regards, Warm huggies!
