Cannot imagine life without music. It is something deep... soul and spirit deep thing.
I´ve been through many genres... folk, indie, rap, techno, pop, rock, blues, jazz... but when I came to God, my desire was changed ... I just... like the Christian music now, gospel music... doesnt really matter much the genre to me.

God changed everything! Hallelujah! I am happy for you, my sister in Christ then! Indeed haha, I don´t know I guess the first things that changed for me when I was given a new heart and new spirit was ... this sensitiveness to the things that are wrong... sensitive conscience and then cussing... totally gone, it was gone... and desire for God and for music to worship. It is miracle indeed!
Well, I listen a lot songs in my native language, and also I don´t really have one interpret that is my favorite or ... I just find some songs that I like and I have a few that I listen to from a lot of interprets kind of... also I like hymns a lot.

Music has meant so much to me! I am also grateful for it.
On a side note (pun not intended), as a CPTSD sufferer, music gave me a place to "feel". For people like me who are afraid of experiencing the highs and lows of emotions, music gives an emotional place to feel, and express emotions!
When there's something I don't know how to say out loud, a certain song may say it for me.
Oh, I can't wait to start back up the electric guitar (it's been decades)😔. 70's, 80's classic rock are my favorites. But I have so many genres and styles on my playlist.
When I need to express myself when I feel the need to be heard. Nothing beats for me as the song "I Remember You" Skid Row.

Love music. I can't imagine exercising, long drives without music in the background. It keeps me going. My current favourite artists Don Toliver, Tame Impala, Arijit Singh, Selena Gomez. My current most played song Yo Voy. I would love to learn to play the ukulele.

Perhaps as my username suggests, once upon a time I was an active scholastic musician, earning my music performance degree and all. I determined not to stick around in the industry for various reasons. As I tell folks, I simply took it seriously enough to earn my degree in it.
Playing in large ensembles as a brass player [family of instruments] was great fun whether it was orchestra or band. You're putting together a giant puzzle of sound with your peers. The completed product gets presented to an audience and you feel a sense of accomplishment after the performance.
I miss those days a lot but when the time is right, maybe I'll find my way back into the scene.
@comfortingmusician08 That’s so cool that you were in band and orchestra!! I actually regularly play in orchestra (I play violin) and chamber ensembles, and it’s so much fun!! It is truly so rewarding seeing how each piece comes together! Whether you reenter the music scene or not, music is a part of you, and we’re here for you and welcoming you every step of the way. Have fun with it!!
Also I’m so curious, what’s your favorite orchestra/band piece you’ve ever played (classical or not?) Some of mine are New World, Polovtsian Dances, Danzon no 2 / Conga, Shostakovich 5, Firebird, etc.!!

Shosti 5 and Firebird make us brass players stare off into the distance because they're on most orchestral auditions. I dodged a lot of the "mainstream" rep so-to-speak because my degree was Bachelor of Arts rather than Bachelor of Music (very similar paths, one is more broad and the other is more hyper-focused).
I would love to share which pieces were my favorite but genuinely do not want to dox myself here even if others share the same favorites lol. Many of them are band pieces.
French horn was my instrument. I take it out periodically just to run fundamentals and such. It will be a while before I step back to the casual ensemble-playing scene (I was largely a band guy).
I also played piano (largely classical) for a while but never did anything competitive or otherwise fancy with it. It laid the foundation and gave me solid stuff to build off of through my degree.
@comfortingmusician08 Yeahh I think I had a section of Shosti as an excerpt once—it’s actually brutal. But the final product is pretty amazing. Also that’s so cool I also started off on piano! Band is awesome—sometimes I kinda wish I played a wind/brass instrument, but my lungs can’t handle that 😅

Most percussionists start in band too ;)! You don't have to play a wind/brass instrument to be in band lol.
The trade-off with percussion is you are expected to at least be proficient/quickly switch between whatever specific instruments the composer decides to write.
@xsoupyplants12 Also, Danzon is a staple both for orchestra and band. There's a really great band arrangement that is frequently played at the HS [seriously there are some really dang good HS bands out there], collegiate and professional levels.

That’s true, percussion would be really cool as well. But yeah you’d have to master a lot of instruments and be able to switch between them easily. And you’re so right, I’ve seen and heard a lot of amazing HS bands and orchestras!! It’s crazy; a lot of them sound like professionals already

Music was there for me in really tough periods in my life. It's a beautiful form of art that has offered me moments of joy, relief, a feeling of belonging and being understood, even moments of awareness, realisation and increased contact with my feelings and myself.
I enjoy singing, I sometimes record covers of songs with my phone. I want to learn how to play the guitar one day.
There are sooo many impactful artists out there. Ren is an artist that has impacted me a lot. His music often focuses on mental health. Through his art I've felt connected, relieved, emotional, amazed, inspired, hopeful..I feel like I could talk about this for hours so I'll leave it here haha. But yeah, i find music invaluable.
