Your Story 💜🌻 A Celebration of Strength and Courage
Hello!
I’m reaching out to ask for ✨your✨ help!
It’s been a secret hobby until recently, but I really enjoy writing fiction. I’m not very good at it, but that doesn’t matter, I enjoy it and each time I write, I am improving.
I have wanted to write one on mental health for a while, and have decided to go for it, even though it will be difficult. I want to make it positive, without belittling the toughness of coping with out mental health, and have sections for each character. I haven’t decided if they will all link together, or be separate stories yet.
How can you help? I’d like to use your stories. It’s amazing to come onto 7cups and see the steps people are making in their own recovery, how they are getting through each day.
If you feel comfortable, please do share a brief summary of your story... past or present.
Some questions to think about...
When did you notice you were struggling?
What does a good day look like? What does a bad day look like?
What steps did you/have you taken towards recovery?
What does your end goal look like?
What quote do you think best fits with your story? (I’m thinking about making this chapter titles).
I’m not promising how well this will go, I’m not promising any specific details yet as I don’t know until I start writing. It’s just something I would love to do to celebrate you and your strengths and bravery to keep going. You’ve survived 100% of your bad days.
Tagging some lovely people who were in the room when I shared my idea... @amiablebunny4016 @tidyhickory3283 @Aishaa97 @Fristo
@CalmCoral hi ❤ I didn't have a very nice past. But I was rescued a few years ago when I was 18. My past as left me with a broken spine they can't fix it so they had to amputate my legs. I am missing some fingers now too 😢 I moved country and I live in a care home now. I have lots of support and help here. Mentally I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression, emotionally unstable and ptsd. I can help you if you have questions I'll try to answer 🤗
@Tinywhisper11 wow, it sounds like you are a survivor. I cant imahine all the things you have had to endure. Thank you for sharing part of your story with us.
@tinywhisper11
I'm sorry to hear things have been so rough for you, no words will be able to express that. I am also so pleased to hear you have more support and are getting through 100% of your bad days! I also saw on your bio that you enjoy painting, do you find that helps to express yourself and be you? I love being creative 😋🎨
Up to you whether or not you want to answer, but I wanted to ask you if you'd like to share even if it's a tiny bit or just the topic about your past, only as I would want to portray it as you wanted it, and make it your story, but I can always make up if you don't want to share 💜
@CalmCoral I was born into a christian cult. Children born into the cult were either sold or kept as slaves. I was kept
@CalmCoral I think this is a spectacular idea! However, like someone else said, as a listener it is frowned upon to publicly share my struggles.
@CalmCoral
Thanks for the tag Coral! As I had already told you that I will be able to share my ideas by March end so will have to wait till that :’)
@tidyhickory3283
Yay, can't wait to hear from you!
Good luck with exams 🍀
@CalmCoral
Thanks!!!
@CalmCoral
This is such a cool idea! You're so incredible! I really want to share, but I'm scared what my words could do, if they could hurt others
@CalmCoral
Dropping this to give potential inspiration for your story 💕 Good luck!
Trigger Warning (Self Harm, EDS): The Past
My Story, a summary:
I struggled with depression, self harm and an eating disorder during my teenage years after the loss of a close friend to su, the abandonment of my family, and the grief that came with that.
What steps did I take with my recovery?
I complied a list of all of my reasons to stay recover and alive, down to the smallest detail. I added new things daily. I also utilized The Butterfly Project.
The Present
I’m recovered now but still face depression on a daily basis that affects my ability to give my 100% in my studies.
What does a good day look like?
I wake up. There is no heavy feeling in my chest. Instead, I am at peace. My mind is quiet. I make an effort to clean my space and myself. I put on clean clothes. I eat more than once a day. I can pay attention in class easily and learn.
What does a bad day look like?
I wake up and instantly the feeling of a deep, empty agony enters my body. It is incredibly difficult to do simple tasks such as eating, showering and getting out of bed. I find it hard to concentrate on anything. I am exhausted but I can’t sleep. All I can do these days is exist.
What steps do I continue to take with recovery?
I try attend an online support group when I’m having a bad week.
Quotes that fit with my story:
🕊️ “There is no magic cure, no making it go away forever. There are only small steps upward; an easier day, an unexpected laugh, a mirror that doesn’t matter anymore.” - Laurie Halse Anderson
🕊️ “Take care of yourself, over and over again, until it no longer hurts.” - Juansen Dizon
🕊️ “My recovery must come first so that everything I love in life does not have to come last.” - Unknown
Hey i struggle with a lot of family issues. Idk my real family iv been in care since i was born n sometimes i get realy lonely n think that everythings pointless. Even though i have good foster carers i dont realy get attached to people incase they leave. It didnt bother me as much when i was younger its probably bothered me more since i was about 9 or 10 n its dumb but i get jealous of other ppl with familys. Some days i get really moody n dont talk much n i just overthink so much n sometimes i get intrusive thoughts but on a good day i dont think about it much. Being on cups has helped me a lot cos i find it hard to talk about it to people irl but on cups i can talk about things a bit more without gettin judged. Im not allowed to no about my parents as social services have confidential stuff so i wont know until im 18 but my goal is to find out about my family eventully.
Hiya, I think this is a lovely idea. Happy to tell you about my personal journey. I would rather not publicise it in the comments here. Feel free to drop me a personal message if you would like and we can talk there. 😊
