is it normal to get weird members dm me ?
hello!
so i'm a newbie and recently i've noticed that some of the members reaching out to me are weird but like the bad kind of weird...(hope you understand what i mean) and so i was wondering if that happens to you some of you listeners too?
is it my profile that is not appropriate or ? because it makes me really uncomfortable opening up the app and reading really inappropriate messages that i wish i could unsee...
is there something i can do to prevent those people from texting me ?

hi charlotte 💜 i think you should report them. you could also include a little note in your listener bio saying that you do not accept inappropriate chats, or something like that. i’ve seen many listeners add something like that in their bios.

Those kind of messages are definitely uncomfortable. you can report those members.
one more thing you can do is get a mentor. a mentor is a listener who can help you in your listening journey on cups.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear that you received those inappropriate messages. I just want to say that I did receive messages like that too. The first time I saw them, I totally freaked out. I felt super scared, so i closed my 7 Cup website for weeks. Then, when I came back and checked, I saw people who really needs help from me, and that is what encouraged me to come back and continue to be a listener. Hope you feel better!😃
Something like that happened to me recently and I'm working through it...
@luewur I’m really sorry that you get those types of messages. That also happened to me before, both on my listener account and my member account. What I find usually helpful is saying “hey please don’t say those types of things, they make me uncomfortable”, if they continue doing that end the chat, and if they still message you, go ahead and block. It’s unfortunate that some people decide to come in and purposefully make others uncomfortable. Hopefully those messages will become less frequent for you. I’m sorry that you’ve gotten those kinds of messages tho

I suggest you change your photo to a drawing. If necessary, change your username.
Take screenshots of the offending messages and report them from here attaching the screenshots:

Yes actually i also get such messages as a fellow listener you should change your profile Pic and only accept the people who send requests it'll get better don't worry

Hey, I'm sorry you're going through such stuffs. I pretty much had same incident in the past and most of the time it would be the same request style assuring me it was the same predator. However, this things shouldn't be normalized. One thing I learned is to be straightforward if I'm not comfortable with the specific chat... If they still don't stop, don't hesitate to report them as your mental-wellness matters equally.
