just would like to know more about 7 cups
hey there!! i'm working on a personal project on attempting to redesign this site? ofc i have no connection or whatsoever with 7Cups.. i just need it for my portfolio. i had used this site back in 2017 and i just wanted to take a look again .. and i literallyy had to search how to post in the forum section? i would like to know if there are any improvements that can be done on this site. both experience wise and design wise. {ofc they wont be applied in real life.. but help me for my project} thankyou very much..
@imperfecthooman It is an interesting project! Of course there are always improvements to be made. I will just mention a few that happen to come to mind at this moment.
1. 7 Cups has a website and an app, but they work in different ways. Some important things that you can do on the website cannot be done in the app. (For example, you cannot become a listener in the app.) This problem involves both user experience and design. How would you go about solving it?
2. 7 Cups supports teen members (aged 13 to 17), and most adult listeners are not allowed to chat with teens. Sometimes a teen member requests a listener to chat to and has to wait more than an hour before any listener accepts their request. How would you go about improving this user experience?
3. Members sometimes complain in the forum that when they try to chat with a listener, the listener often stops responding without any warning. (This is sometimes known as the member being "ghosted".) But listeners also complain when they are ghosted by members! What changes would you make to reduce or eliminate the problem of ghosting?

@RarelyCharlieTHANKYOU SO MUCHH.. for all the points that you brought up here!! i heard about the big difference between site and app. thankyou for listing the problem.
Do they have an option to report listeners ? like not just getting blocked but getting reported? if they have one, they should just use it to filter the listeners for teens. listeners who were reported for sexual harassment and/or for bullying or provoking others should just never be listed for teens?
is it a technical problem that the waiting time is this long ? or there are just not enough listeners for teens?
the ghosting one has been here since a long time ago. i thought maybe the listeners are kinda busy with several people hence the delay in replying? or they are just not interested?
@imperfecthooman Your reply demonstrates exactly what happens when complex problems are addressed—you immediately have to ask many questions that would all need to be researched. And you immediately think of easy solutions that, obviously, have been thought of many times before, and sometimes even tried, and didn't work. If we had all the information, and if the solutions were easy, then these problems wouldn't be problems 😉

Hello! I use just ONE area of this website: To listen to members for a couple of hours most days. The rest of the website does feel like a maze and I am not sure I always agree with the culture (possibly because I am neither American or young enough). From time to time, I answer questions in forums but I am not so social that I would try to know anyone on 7cups better, since I already have a lot of correspondents.
