Are you holding onto something you need to let go of?
My mental health is the worst it has ever been, but I dont want to tell anyone so it has just been bubbling up inside of me...
My first heartbreak then again it was just puppy love. I hold on to it mostly because my first "love" was my former bestfriend and the day I confessed my feelings, I lost a lot of friends. He used my feeling against me as a weapon for bullying.
I need to let go of the past and let myself open up to new people and possibly find someone who I can befriend and trust with my life.
@rainbowturtle Oh man, I empathize so much.
Every time I crush on someone new I hold onto them for as long as I can. I'm twenty and I've never dated/had a boyfriend, and I desperately wanted to be loved for the longest time, because I believed I had no friends. And social validation.
I'm holding onto someone who can't belong to me.
The hope of my ex and I getting back together. I can't stop it, it plagues my mind.
@FallingCrescent same :/
my need for invisibility, i need to let that go, its not good for me in a lot of areas of my life to keep myself locked up literraly in my house or job, i dont even let myself drive any attention in any way and its beging to get in the way of many of my life goals, i am very affraid and dont know exactly what to do, but thats the thing i must let go, that fear, that behavior.
It's bizzare backwards thinking...but a part of me thinks I'm holding onto my depression and anxiety. I want to get better, and am working on getting better. I am slowly, steadily getting to a better space, but still not quite where I want to be. I feel like in someway I've accdentially conditioned myself to want to be this way forever. I've forgotten who I really am other than a list of symptoms and I fear that somehow that will subtract from who I am. Getting better = becoming someone different is how my mind registers this. What if nobody likes me, what if I'm BoringTM without my mental illnesses? If they ever liked me at all.
I'm holding on to a secret that I have held on to my whole life. It's been a secret so long that the fear of discovery or opening up about it has me suffering anxiety, stressing to the point I'm sick and I'm not sleeping at all.
I need to just open up because my wife is now worrying about me too.
@ABsecret
What's the worst possible outcome of revealing the secret? How will you handle that?
What's the best possible outcome? What will that look like?
The most likely scenario is somewhere between those two extremes. Having a realistic plan for the positive and negative possibilities can help you really consider letting it out. It sounds like holding on to this secret is harming you.
@Mirea thank for a rational way of looking at it.
@ABsecret what's the secret, maybe the people here could help you see it differently that it isn't that bad
@reservedexcitment hi, ok well here goes nothing..
I like to dress up in really cute girly dresses and act like a big baby and sissy. :( not a joke. I've done this for a long time and have never told anyone and it's not a secret I want to keep from my wife. I love her her with all my heart.
@ABsecret
Well, for what it's worth, I wouldn't see that as any big, dark deal. If my spouse came to me with that secret I'd ask if he was looking for me to participate in that with him or is it just something he wants me to know so that he can feel free to incorporate it into his life.
You're the one who knows your wife and can say how she typically responds to people who are into things that may be outside the norm. If you're worried about her reacting badly, you may want to consider weighing that against the long-term cost (to both of you) of hiding this part of yourself indefinitely.
@Mirea
Hi, thank you. I think I've kept it hidden so long as fear if rejection and failure is a big part of my anxiety in general.
What you said though really has put a new viewpoint on it. Might not seem like much but but it's the fresh look I may have needed. Weighing up the long term damage it could do holding on to it rather than just ripping the band aid off. Hmm thanks.
@ABsecret sorry for such a late response but I agree with the other persons response. It's not that bad of a secret. There are some women who wouldn't mind giving that a try especially if they know it would make their husbands excited. Again, you know her the best. I do understand although you know her, you could still wonder how she would react. How I would approach telling someone something where I don't know their reaction, I would tell them I heard a friend was doing that, no matter what their reaction, I would continue and say, doesn't that make you wonder what they find interesting, just out of curiosity, do you want to try? I just wonder what it is that they like. I know it's not very direct but soon after I would tell them that I think that's interesting too, well only if they are receptive. I also agree that weighting out the pros and cons of telling and not telling would help.
I know I need to let go of something. I don't know if I need to let go of my ex and strengthen myself for when someone new comes into my life, or if I need to let go of the resentment I feel and let him back into my life.
There are things I want, but don't need, that I know he can never provide. But despite that he accepts me with all my flaws and idiosyncrasies.
Theres still so much I want to explore though. And I can't if I'm with him.
