Dealing with the loss of a friend
I have been dealing with the loss of a friend for 3 years now. Whenever I think of her I feel a rush of emotions followed by feeling as though I am not feeling anything at all if that makes sense. I am wondering how some of you have dealt with the loss of a very close friend and actions I should take to not feel this way.
@1Corey I’m so sorry you’re carrying this pain. Losing a close friend is one of the hardest things and it’s okay to feel a whirlwind of emotions or sometimes feel nothing at all.
Grief doesn’t look the same for everyone and there’s no right way to navigate it. Be kind to yourself as you work through these feelings.
Besides, the process of healing doesn’t always follow a clear path but eventually, it might help to embrace the idea that healing doesn't mean forgetting but learning how to carry that love with you.
@Phoenixthepoised Thank you so much for the words of wisdom I see exactly what you mean. Everyone experiences different things and different types of losses and this requires different methods of grieving. Thank you for the response.
@1Corey hugs you tightly 💗 grieving is never a easy process, we all learn little things that help us along the way💗 be kind to yourself and let your self remember the good times and bad. It's ok to feel nothing and everything all at once💗 I think what helps me the most is having a special place to go and sit and just talk to them, believing they can hear me💗 also writing poems/letters and attaching them to a balloon and let them float up to heaven 💗 but it is different for everyone, we are all here for you 💗
@Tinywhisper11 I hadn't really thought of writing down my feelings really. I like to talk about how I am feeling so I think this could be helpful to me. Thank you for the idea and response!

What great replies. I'm sure no best way to heal. I'm sorry to hear about your friend.
I have lost a couple or so friends over the years and it's just tough I'd say. I think they say time heals all. Condolences to you, her friends, and family. If you are religious, maybe pray or something. Thankfully I know there are many resources out there. There even is a loss and grieving section here at 7 Cups.
I am thankful for all of the kind words and advice I truly appreciate you taking the time to help it means a lot and makes me motivated to move past this difficult time. Thank you all again
I know how you feel man. I lost my best friend to like four years ago. Was dead for two or three months and no one told me till me and my classmate got the letter. I thought he was too busy with uni ofc but I started getting worried and called him but he didn't pick up and asked people about him and that's when I found out. I understand the rush of emotions it just feels like a punishment and so, makes you think how or what you could do to prevent it or how u wished it was u instead of them.youre experiencing numbness like I am bro because we both can't and won't accept their death even tho we know they're dead but we can't admit it because of the good times we had with them and can't let them go and we do anything to go back in the past to be with them. But we're growing up and it sucks, everything and everyone changes. It's sad but nothing we can do so we just sit there in grief and numbness
@IE17 It's nice to know that I am not the only one feeling this way. We will both be able to overcome this as long as we keep moving forward and create new friendships. Sorry to hear about your friend passing thanks for the response.
Bro itsnokay it is what it is and we will overcome but no just now it'll come when time goes past uno what I mean bro it's not our fault we feel this way man
Hi. I lose my dad three years ago, and i had the very similiar feelings in first two year. This year i started to miss him.
I genuinely don't have any good advice, but i would suggest you to go to therapy
@1Corey there are so many different ways to grieve. I remember this quote from a movie that said you carry on their legacy/memories, and they exist through your memories just like historical figures that have died. everyone copes differently!! you could write down or think about the good memories you had together that way you're being grateful for the time you had together. it's also nice to grieve together, to talk to other people that are also dealing with the same loss. and maybe it helps to know they are in a better place and could be watching you/hoping the best for you. I know if I died or if any of my family members died they wouldnt want me to be in pain for too long over their death and would want me to recover, so take your time and I hope you feel better soon!!
Hey Corey I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend to cancer a few years ago. We were both young at the time. It was one of the hardest things to have gone through. I was so angry at first and failed to deal with the grief. We didn’t have a happy last conversation at last either. It was all too consulting. But i wrote a lot to get over my grief. I wrote how I felt the anger the grief everything. U wrote letters to her the things I wished to convey. Eventually life got in the way and the grief lessened over time. Time heals all wounds. Give yourself time sending lots of strength and light 🫂
@1Corey I am so sorry firstly for your loss. It's important to talk about them often, to keep their memory alive, this might be by doing something special on their birthday or anniversary of their death. Having something concrete to visual helps me. I am currently going through the same, my friend died during the week out of the blue in a very horrific accident. I know it's exhausting, emotional, it hurts so physically, you feel a whirlwind of emotions, and you will because they mattered, it hurts because you cared, as hard as it gets, hold onto the good memories, hold them in your heart, happy in the knowledge you could call them a friend. Sending you my thoughts and good wishes at this time, hoping you get to a place where you can smile when you think of your friend and it hurts a little bit less.
