Hello everyone, I hope everyone is having a good week.

In the last week, we discussed- How has your culture or upbringing influenced your approach to emotion regulation? If you haven't checked yet, please click here to add your thoughts.

Based on the discussion there, I realized that emotion regulation is something that is not openly discussed or learned due to various factors in play. But as a consequence of it, we experience a harder time regulating our emotions because we have no clue how to channel them. So, I want to extend this week's discussion towards it a bit more.

This week's prompt is: What are some of the emotions that you find most difficult to regulate? Why do you think that is?

While there are many factors in play that how emotions are expressed and managed, it is important to find a balance that works for us individually. Please remember, it is okay to feel and express our emotions, and seeking support when we need it is a sign of strength. Let's discuss together and learn from each other.

Hello! In the past, a lot of my life, I would be jealous of someone or a situation and would keep denying it to myself. It would just get worse. The reason I was jealous a lot is I was such a people-pleaser that I thought it was so selfish to put myself first and do what I wanted or say what was on my mind. People pleasing causes a lot of jealousy and resentment. When I feel jealous now, I admit it to myself and try to not to compare myself with others. That's another thing also, comparing yourself with others just makes you miserable.

@pineapplepeanut It takes courage to admit our feelings and take a different path. What helped you realize comparing yourself to others was making you unhappy? I'm happy you're learning to focus on your own path and needs.

Hi, I hope you doing okay as well ♥️

So - for me it’s gonna be shame. I as a person feel shame a lot, I’m ashamed almost every day for various reasons, that I don’t really need to specify, but it’s something that’s hard for me to regulate since I was a small child. And maybe that’s the reason why it’s hard for me to regulate it.

But I’m trying to work on it, because in my mind I know there’s really no need to be ashamed for most of the things I’m ashamed of. It’s a long journey, but one day it’s gonna be worthy a ton 🫶

I am anxiously attached due to trauma from my childhood I never or rarely feel secure in my polyamorous relationships outside of my nesting partner. It is tough to quiet those doubts and insecurities.

it is often reviewed as if I don’t appreciate their love ❤️ I do not feel that way just sometimes I need re assurance and my needs are not high.

Sometimes in relationships you have to ask what it is that makes you happy in that relationship and same for your partners. Btw all my partners are long term 22 years nesting partner and 6 years poly partners.

Even in long term committed relationships you need to work through these issues but I do a ton of self care and needs are important readjust in relationships as necessary.

Happiness is an inside job definitely 💯. Take time for you to figure out the way forward that everyone feels good and remember all relationships require work even friendships. 💕💕

As someone who was raised to "be seen but not heard" I find that I struggle with any strong emotions since I was never taught as a child how to handle them besides pretending they were not there. The worst one for me would be anger. When I get angry, I try my hardest to push the emotions back down which does not work and then I find myself lashing out at random moments.

Treating manic behavior. I am dreamy and mania makes it difficult to achieve these dreams because it makes me producing by low quality. It makes me be between enthusiasm and hopelessness, having great things in mind but short hands to get them.

@ASilentObserver

Thanks for your compassion.

I find it difficult to gather myself and focus on learning or working on something I want to achieve some goals in. Like, I want to be a good researcher. I find myself messing the information I learn to work with. My manic mind causes some inattention and inability to process information in a right way. So, I find myself at the end learnt false information with wrong matching. For some other things I want to progress in is music. I have an aim, which is being a professional, whose music is admired and can be counted as a musician. My abilities to learn are messed up because of what mania leaves of damage in my brain. I don't process sound well, I find it difficult to sense, to be in and present when I am trying to learn or compose music. I compose some music and the next day I forget everything. It can be solved by training but it is difficult to train on something that needs sensation and understanding than practising, and both sensation and understanding are messed up in my case : )
