for me i would feel a bracking point
and if i cant salve it on my own
than ill seek professanal help
I think part of the trick is getting help before it's needed. Yes, sometimes acute crises will pop up which means that professional help will be needed a times but quite often I think there's often a path where prevention does work, or at least some of the benefits will start kicking in before hitting the point where it's needed.
When I ended up in the hospital two years ago from trying to commit I was dead for like a few seconds or minutes I believe and I realised then I was ready to get help my family was upset and crying but they're not the reason for me seeking help , I truly believe my little brother James mostly was and is the reason . I wanted to get better for not my sake but he's and my other siblings. I was also tired of feeling this way and wanted to be OK.
I know I need help when I feel that I can't take care of myself without slipping up and going back to old habits. I need help most of the time :(
When my functionality narrows bit by bit and I don't want to go anywhere.
@OrangeYouGlad68 Yeah I didn't want to do anything either.
When my panic attacks start coming back and the only thing I want to do is to sleep all the time.
Getting help can be a tough decision! I remember when I was going through a tough time with anxiety and depression, my mom and sister were the first people to notice my mood and habit changes. However, it took me a few months to realize. It was not until I acknowledged my changing behaviors that I would accept help. I knew I needed help when I was not functioning and living up to my full potential. When waking up and participating in activities I previously enjoyed became a chore, I knew it was time to seek help.
Well it was a lot of things. I felt hopeless, endless sadness. I didn't even listen music (Which it's like hyper weird) and I barely get out of my room.
The point at which I decide I need help is when I can't wake up in the morning or go to bed at night without feeling anxious. Over the years I've gotten better at listening to myself so that instead of trying to power through, I reach out to my therapist and go in for a session or two. Listening to yourself and showing yourself compassion are always a good way to start!
