Impulse control during conversations with ADHD

Does anyone else who has ADHD find themselves constantly apologizing for cutting others off during conversations in social situations? I find myself constantly blurting out my thoughts when I have something to add to a topic, before the other person finishes their sentence.. and I immediately feel horrible for doing so. It's not because I feel like my opinion is more important than theirs, it's just i always have so many thoughts running through my head constantly, and they come and go so fast I feel like if I don't say that thought right then, it'll escape my head and I'll forget what I was saying. It's especially bad during phone conversations with customers at my job, when I'm discussing a question they have. When I know the answer to what they want, I unintentionally interrupt them.

I don't personally have ADHD but that makes a lot of sense what you're describing. You find that you have lots of thoughts running through your head and you want to voice them before they vanish. That results in interrupting people, and then you feel badly for doing that. It's not that you think your thoughts are more important than what other people have to say. It's more like "I can't trust that I'm going to remember this 15 seconds from now and it's going to bother me if I forget it."

Here's a resource I found that has some tips for ADHD communication. I skimmed through it and note-taking is something I personally do constantly. I could imagine that maybe being something that could work if you're on a phone call with a customer and you don't want to forget either what they're saying or what you're thinking.

Thank you. I'll look into it. I honestly don't have many chances to practice any of this since both my girlfriend and I are introverted and tend to keep to ourselves, so we dong socialize but with one or two friends. That particular problem is why I usually stay quiet and keep to myself in groups.
