Is this dysphoria?
I have had a lot of things going on lately. This is how I was feeling as of Monday night, October 6th:
"I feel...ugh. It sounds stupid to say/type aloud, but I feel something is missing or something. I...I want to smile for a new picture of me, but I can't it looks unnatural to me somehow. Like it's a lie.
I know saying "something feels wrong with me" is the understatement of the year and I'm sure therapy is most definitely warranted, but, it feels deeper than just the depression and anxiety and worry that I normally feel, and the intensity of those has been magnified lately due to life circumstances I admit, but...this feels unrelated. I can't explain it. I don't even know if I should try."
I just feel like lately looking at my face and body, something isn't quite right, something is missing or off or...I don't know. I don't want to say wrong, because it isn't that exactly.
I don't know if any of this next bit is related, but please forgive the rambly feel.
I've recently realized that the word I was looking for to describe how I experience my gender, despite being dfab, is agender. It makes a lot of sense, actually. I still use feminine pronouns because while I don't necessarily consider myself a woman, I do feel feminine more often than not.
On top of that, I've been identifying as a panromantic and gray asexual person for about a year or so now. It took me a long time to find the words that most closely fit how I feel.
Am I feeling dysphoria or can my feelings be attributed to my usual depression/anxiety and other feelings?
@Flux - I'm not sure it's possible for someone to say just from that post, but I think a lot of what you're feeling definitely does sound aligned to dysphoria and it's worth exploring that idea further. Ultimately, whether it's dysphoria, part of your depression, or something else entirely, if it's something that's causing struggle or hurt, it's worth getting support for. You deserve to be able to work through all of this and love yourself and every piece of your identity! Wishing you well!
