Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder
Hi! ^_^
I was wondering if anyone else 'suffers' with Maladaptive daydreaming disorder.
Iused tosuffer, now I really just use it as a tool to keep me from going insanelybored in this place we call real life.![]()
I wanted to know, does anyone emotional react externally to things happening in theirdaydreams too? I've cried, yelled, and laughed before. XD
Also, has anyone ever got *caught* doing it? If so, how did the other person react ?
Andddd lastly, for those who think I'm bonkers, here's a popular internet star to describe how he goes through it. :p

It actuallysounds pretty interesting haha A little dangerous tough. Do you tend to daydream for hours or even days? I daydream a lot and some of the symptoms I have, but I only go for like several minutes
Hmmm, for me, its random times. It kind of flows into my everyday life. For I'd say maybe a total of 3 hours every day... most of the time being when I'm lying in bed at night.
At the height of all of it, maybe three years ago, I spent some days just laying in bed daydreaming, which I look back and now know was a terrible thing. :p
Usually when I daydream, I feel all kind of emotions, but no on ever catches meloland Wow, that's a long while haha Still pretty cool though!![]()
Yeah it is dangerous sometimes especially for me,i will be on the road walking and not realise im day dreaming untill i snap out
I do lots of daydreaming. Especially when I'm alone or travelling. I laugh but I never cried nor yelled. I kept control of myself every time. But this daydreaming thing can make you so passive and waste your time for now. We should live for now. Time can never be brought back.
Well I day dream all the time and its makes me feel kind of heroic...like I feel I can do wonders for the world if I could only get a chance...I know its stupid but its kind o fun as well...i guess I am lonely
....and no I dont react to the external world; kind o happy in my own
I suffer from depression and anxiety and maladaptive daydreaming is my way out, I don't like my life right now so I made my own in my head.. I did this since I was a kid. I often listen to a song and that imagine that's it 's me performing the song or If I watched a nice anime I daydream about me living in that anime. I have other friends in my own world I have a love life in my own world. I am cool and loved in my own world. I don't feel that way in real life so I created my own.
@Ri1993 Yeah, me too. I do the same things music wise. I've realized recently that the music I actually enjoy for its quality is different from the music I enjoy for its ability to be incoperated into day dreams. The same thing applies to media, I'll enjoy a great book, but I won't think about it much because I can't incorperate it into my daydreams.
Hmm, does anyone ever daydream of how youwish a senario could go down in vivid detail? Or practice in your daydream what you'd do and say given you're going to an event and not sure what you'll do?
Yes I do this quite a lot. I'm a reserved person naturally so I often rehearse what I'm going to say and imagine the different ways it could (or I'd like it to play out). I've done that for job interviews and even asking guys out.
I've always been a big daydreamer, I've never seen it as a disorder though. My teacher in third grade thought I had ADD because of it but my doctor said it was just boredom. I'm a writer now, so I guess I always just thought of it as a vivid imagination. My only problems come when I should be cleaning or sleeping and I let myself get distracted with daydreams instead.
I often rehearse everyday situations in detail and am sometimes caught out as after saying a phrase I might say "I said" because I already planned my response. I zone out a lot and I didn't know it was a thing/ had a name.
Dang. I have done this for years and didn't know there was a name for it. Yeah, I've been caught. Mostly when having conversations with people in the daydream lol. It got to happening so much, I have to tell myself Just Stop It! So I can focus on what is actually happening in real life.
Haha I love this! So me
Man i daydream for hours especially when im alone it helps me take my mind for a while, boots creativity and productivity.
I definitely do this but sadly it's more so in a negative context. Initially my day dreams will start off good then some how they get me really sad or angrybecause my mind is dreaming upscenarios that have never happened and hopefully never will happen. In a twisted way I feel it's a way to remind myselfto be grateful for the life I actually have because it is agoodlife.
I've never been caught per say, but when I looked up maladaptive daydream disorder I first thought that type of daydreaming was normal. It hasn't gotten to the point where it's being destructive to my life or anything, but there are times where I prefer the world I've made up over the reality. It's tough not to get caught up in them sometimes.
