am i actually not okay?
hi there, i'm quite new here. i was wondering if anyone else was feeling the same way as me.
so basically, I'm the therapist friend. People vent to me, I help them with their problems. It's never the other way around and I'm also too independent for my own good. When people ask me if I'm fine, I don't know, it feels like my mind malfunctions for a moment. I immediately seem to forget my problems exist, I don't know what happens, I think I push them down or something. And when they ask me to tell them what's wrong, I can't come up with anything, my mind just goes blank. And in that moment, I think "what are they talking about, i'm obviously okay. my problems aren't that big of a deal, they aren't affecting me that much." But then later on, probably at night or something, I remember everything and i go like oh yeah that happened to me.
I also have a tendency to immediately brush off any concern with humor or something. I was telling some mental health stuff of mine to my best friend and I was cracking jokes and laughing. And she was looking at me that sort of way lmao. I crack such good jokes and no one laughs, it's such a waste /lh

dear ,
you are alright but you may have already realized this but i would say it anyways , everyone has their own to reach their peace of mind , some choose to speak about it and some choose not to. in a reality , where everyone has a problem , humor play a great tool to express the pain one feels , but the only problem lies here that there are rarely people who can translate humor to pain and rest laugh on it. and not everyone has an open-mind to accept that a person who always throws humors at people could have a problem .

Humor can be a defense mechanism ....... you do not want to seriously talk about any issue because it may all spill out like a dam breaking ......... so we deflect we act as if it is no big deal ..... a joke
some may think "hey she is OK she has got this she is joking about things"
others may see your discomfort but are unsure how to help....... and when we walk away from a conversation and we did not get the support we craved because we tried to make light of things we wonder why someone did not just offer the support and help.....
we feel no one sees our pain our hurt and we are alone........... but in reality humor is a wall we hide behind.
i recently let people in it was an amazing feeling to get real support and it was hard to not throw out a one liner or something but just let those defenses down
