Dinner With Our Alumni: Fristo

Hello everyone! It’s officially freezing where I am so I'm sending everyone some warm beams! This week we have a very fun and creative listener for our dinner. For those joining this series, our dinners are a collection of small interviews with Group Leadership & Dynamics Development (GLDD). These help us reflect upon the program and help our current trainees as well as spread awareness about the program! If you like them, do tell us and we'll reach out!

Please welcome @Fristo! You have probably seen Fristo around in the forums interviewing leaders and bringing their living to life on 7 Cups! They are creative, dedicated, and so friendly! They have been on 7 Cups for over 5 years now. They enjoy listening and contributing ways towards improving listening quality on the site.

What's on the menu today? Fristo believes in any good food as long as it’s in good company. So I will assume I was good company (:P) and say we had pizza for dinner ~

Without further ado, here’s Fristo:

What made you join the GLDD program?

Any idea/project/program aimed to provide education for our listeners in their listening journey catches my attention on the first sight. So I passionately joined this program and went through the process!

I see that one of the GLDD requirements was to host discussions. What did you like about that the most? How was your experience doing the program?

Hosting is a special activity for me. It allows me to interact with my fellows at the same time. GLDD acted as an encouragement to keep hosting!

Which is your favourite activity in the program?

Hosting of course, hehe.

What’s the one thing you learned that you will always remember?

To be honest, nothing specific. But I do very very appreciate the encouragement this program offered me and offers to all those who become a part of it, for engaging and leading in group chatroom setup.

What advice would you give to a new GLDD trainee?

Treat the course of time during the program as a space to contemplate upon the creative ways you can contribute in group chatrooms for sending across your love and support.

How can mentors offer better support for the program?

Mentors can get to know the mentees at a personal level a little bit, about how much 7cups matter for them in general, and help the mentee explore their thoughts and feelings about active listening in a group setting.

If you could change one thing about the program, what would it be?

I think it could include co-hosting with their mentor, as a requirement. This would help build mentor-mentee relation, which is very valuable for learning to take place!
